I am working on a project that would be much easier with a lift? I have been looking for a garage to rent with a lift (in the Dallas Area... preferably close to Rowlett) or possible purchasing or renting a used lift. I have run across the MaxJax lift and it looks like the perfect tool for my project but wanted to get feedback on this portable lift.

I dont know a thing about them, but the combination of the words "portable" and "lift" terrify me. :burp:

It looks like that system is highly dependent on your ability to properly align, sink, and tension a set of concrete bolts. As long as your slab is sound and you dont wallow out an anchor, it should be ok.

You are correct that the lags anchors need to be installed correctly. You also have at least 4 inch thick concrete as a minimum. A brand new MaxJax comes with standard lag anchors or you can pay for epoxy anchor kit. Just like any other tool, you need to be careful and use it correctly.

I haven't bought one yet, but it has been on my radar for some time now. These have been out for quite a while now and seem to get somewhat mixed reviews. There is a lot of useful information over on the Garage Journal for these (I am not affiliated in any way with this site)

    Installs, impressions, etc:

Make sure your concrete is thick enough...

Finished reading both of the web links above and they have a lot of great information for someone considering this lift. Thanks for taking your time to post these.

No problem. I have wanted one of these for a while. They are ideal for garages with lower ceilings and smaller cars. But I decided to wait and get a taller 2-post lift once my shop eventually gets built.

There are certain people in this world that just don't understand how important the slab is when it comes to lifts in a home garage...glad I was right about this.
