Considering CMC to fit new wheels and 285/70/17 what are the chances a cmc would void warranty?

Debating between keeping 265s or jumping to 285 and wondering if getting a cmc for fitting the 285s would void warranty or anything in the case of a frame recall etc.

Really unpopular opinion on TW but, yeah. I would definitely think altering the frame would have an impact on the frame recall should you ever need it. The CMC has gotten very normalized in the tacomaworld circles, but cutting into the frame is cutting into the frame no matter how you slice it.

Ha that's TW in a nutshell isn't it! Go from "I'm going to keep it stock" to "Maybe i'll just cut the frame for bigger tires" in the blink of an eye:rofl:

I’ll tell you now, keep it stock. I dumped a lot into this truck and I wish I would’ve at least kept the stock suspension and tire size

What makes you wish you kept stock suspension?

A good shop will weld up the plate so it looks factory. If you are planning on keeping your truck for 15 years you might have to deal with a rusty frame issue but usually the rust holes in the frame are further along, not right at the front.

It will definitely void your warranty. But if you take care of your truck, you shouldn’t have to rely on the warranty. Doesn’t sound all that smart when I read that out loud; make any choices at your own risk.

    But:

If the main concern regarding warranty is due to frame rot, look into woolwax or fluid film. I couldn't imagine your 2-3 year old frame would be bad by any means at this point in time, but stave off any potential future issues by coating that sucker with woolwax or fluid film. Avoid any rubberized undercoating as it traps moisture and can accelerate any rotting.
