Hello. So I have a 21 Tacoma TRD Off Road and was looking at just a leveling kit for now rather than a suspension lift. One shop suggested a 3/2 kit. I have also read about just swapping out fronts for 5100's. There are so many options but I wanna know what did you all do and do you like it?

For right now my goal is to just make it look better but end goal at some point is to be able to do a bit of off roading but nothing extreme and nothing this year.

I'm planning on just doing the 3" front/2" rear budget lift kit myself. I don't mud or rock crawl, just want more pronounced lift. Will being doing a front diff drop and driveshaft carrier bearing drop also.

Will need an alignment. Not sure if I'll need to replace the front diff needle bearing with a clamshell bushing; I'm hoping the diff drop will negate that. We will see.

Yeah? Like 2/1 would be superior? There was a user called Maximum who sold his vehicle for a 4 runner, would really love a similar stance.

FYI, these trucks don't do well with lifts over 2". Unless you do some major upgrades. This has been noted/discuss many time in threads.

Thanks for the info! I have been looking around but I’m brand new so I’m on information overload over here. Much appreciated patience for my noob questions.

There is a ton to consider with lifting the biggest one is use. How will you use the truck, is this a mall crawler that will never haul or tow. Or is it a weekend camping/trail rig?
How many head aches are you willing to deal with for a look? As these trucks are plenty capable and other mods make way more sense in terms of performance if it's a weekend trail rig.
Are you intending on lifting fir bigger tires? Because that's an entirely different discussion.

Hey Veet, I’ve seen you comment on things I’ve been monitoring.
So no off-roading for me, this is just gonna be a build for me for appearance and daily to work. I wanna get a nice aggressive stance with a larger tired absolutely.

Only other thing I would include is it a 2wd or 4wd.
I don't say this often but if your going for the mall crawler look. Spend the pesos on a drop bracket set up if it's a 4wd spindle lift if it's a 2wd.
If you still want to go the suspension lift method be ready to budget in front clamshell bushing angled leaf shims diff carrier drop. Maybe even a front diff drop in this case. Also a tune to get some drivability back.

I love my trucks set up but i wouldn't daily it for the sake of fuel expense. If you go to a 285 or larger fuel economy tanks power takes a hard drop and depending on your wheel spec budget in a cmc. Since your talking stance I doubt you'll be happy with anything below a -38

It’s a 4wd, and thanks for the advice it’s very much appreciated.

I don’t actually get possession of the truck til Saturday, when I do I’ll develop a new truck thread and update my goals for it. Will def spend my time in the meantime getting to know the options you’ve provided.
