These weren't square, I clamped them to the mill and milled them square. I use them more like you have them in that picture than anything. Getting ready to use them on this bent loader to hold the pieces on, cut out the bent and replacing with new.

They really are good for mocking shit up but not much else. I used two this morning on that little project. Anything bigger than that and they tend to be useless. I'll try that air trick though.

I used them in great length on my flex ramp since it as all 90° and 45° angles and didn’t need to be absolutely perfectly square. I was a fan.

what I wasn’t a fan of was dropping the magnet on the floor and it immediately getting covered in shavings. I understand the appeal of the ones you can flip on and off.

Myself I use the wire wheel on the bench grinder best way yet I found to clean them off

I do it so often I don`t give it a thought.

I just tried it one day Wow it worked great.

You might actually want to break that habit. Depending on your breaker, they're not made to be switched on and off all the time and will likely fail early.

I always open the breaker when plugging/unplugging the cord. I am currently using the dryer receptacle though, so it makes more sense. Planning on putting a sub panel in the garage soon though.

At the end of the day, most of those breakers are rated for thousands of operations. Even so, they really aren't that expensive and are pretty easy to replace.

I cut our compressor, welder, lights, and mills/lathes on every morning at work by flipping the breakers. The boss cuts them all off in the evening. Been doing it for 25+ years, 5 days a week. We’ve replaced maybe 3 breakers in that time. One being the welder, it burnt out.

I’d say so. I cut mine off at home every time after I use it because I had lighting get my first mig welder, a Millermatic 185. I also try to unplug it after turning it off but it don’t always happen. Lighting has me paranoid now :D

@Brian422 thanks for the coupon, my 20 yr old pos Chicago electric that I use at home to do small projects, or tac bigger projects together to weld at work, died today, right as I started to make a battery hold down for my rv 6 volt battery upgrade. Thankfully the manager let me use the coupon a day late! Not the greatest looking welds, no gas, and I was figuring out the settings while I was burning it togetherE1A9E92F-12C9-4EC2-BF49-121FCC87591E.jpg

Ahh awesome man! Glad you could use the coupon! I have that same welder. It runs hot so dial it back a little from what the settings on the lid say! You’ll be very happy with it. It welds really well for stuff up to 1/4. Get some anti spatter spray and welds will look pretty good. Here’s one I’ve done with welder.

Hey guys, I’m building a rolling cart for rolls of paper out of 3/16” plate and .120 wall 2.5” ID tube. I don’t want to mark the paper when putting the rolls on the rack so I don’t want to paint I don’t think.

Can I just polish the steel or is there some sort of sealant to keep the surface rust at bay? Our shop is humidity controlled, but obviously some surface rust will form. Not sure if it will be enough to worry about transferring to the paper.
