As mentioned in my previous post, my Smittybilt had a 60 amp relay already in it. I was able to wire it through the relay.

Any tips on how to remove the old blow off valve. I scraped off any red sealant but I can’t get the thing to budge.

Mine came right off with normal pressure, so not sure.

Can you mount a quick connect on the Smitty where their hose comes out, or is it different threads?

Yes, I changed mine out with a normal type quick connect.

    Couple things...

You can add a standard 1/4” SAE quick disconnect fitting, but you will need a metric adapter fitting (M12x1.5 male to 1/4” SAE Pipe) to mount it. The aluminum tube from the compressor outlet is Metric.

Also, you can’t just swap in a standard 1/4” disconnect fitting. You instead need to do the Pressure-Switch mod as well.

The reason being, the Smittybilt Factory setup has a blow-through, thread-on chuck.

Eliminating that chuck entirely will cause the compressor pressure to exceed the emergency pop-off valve limit and can even damage the compressor, etc. So, you need the metric adapter fitting, a 1/4” “T” fitting and the Pressure Switch, electrical connectors, wire...

The wire between the (add-on) Pressure switch can be small as it gets connected between the toggle-switch and the switch-side of the 60-Amp relay, therefore that pressure switch wiring sees only low-current.

Hi everyone, since the Smitrybilt 2781 has been out of stock (or wildly over-priced) now for several months, I took a roll of the dice and ordered a different brand of the same basic design:

    51UqrkhppuL._AC_SY400_.jpg

It is "GSPSCN" branded... but clearly the same underlying design as the 2781, with similar specs. I am slowly plumbing it into the truck now, but wanted to let everyone know, if you get this model, you will need a M12 x 1 mm thread adapter. (Not x1.5mm) The actual thread OD is more like 11.7mm too, so I'm hoping the adapter will seal. Otherwise I'll have to turn my own adapter I guess. These non-standard fittings are completely stupid.

Everything else seems quite similar. It has an 50A breaker and 60A relay, both on the low side. I measured 44A current draw at 45 PSI tire pressure, with the engine off, but from a fully charged AGM battery.

Got a link to the GSPSCN or a model number (they seem to make -- or brand -- a ton of different models)? Please update if it does(or doesn't) seal. Thanks!

Would it be possible to skip the Tee, skip adding back in the pressure relief valve and simply screw the pressure switch in where the relief valve was?

I can't believe my username and password were 1) saved in Chrome and 2) would still work after all these years. I haven't had a Tacoma since like 2011 _O)|||||(O_

I have a Superflow MV-90. My compressor needs to be rebuilt and would like to know if anyone has any information on parts and where to source. Specifically after tear down, I know I need a new O-ring/gasket for the head... Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

So a few months later, I finally finished installing the GSPSCN compressor as part of an unnecessarily complicated on-board air system. You can read the writeup here.

I don't actually have the part number for that compressor, but here's the Amazon link, where of course it is now out of stock:

    https://www.amazon.com/GSPSCN-Portable-Inflator-Compressor-Inflatables/dp/B07MMMKNWX

I wound up needing a M14x1 die to cut threads that fit the compressor output, and machined my own output manifold thing for it. I believe it was M12 at the far end of the handle, but I deleted the handle so needed the M14 to connect directly to the cylinder head casting.

It is working, and it's a lot faster than my old setup. But I still wish it was faster!

Thank you much. I understand the stock shortage -- I finally got the Ironman 4x4 version (https://ironman4x4america.com/air-champ-pro-5-65cfm-12v-heavy-duty-portable-air-compressor/; I'm sure it's the same thing).

And it's freakin' huge. And heavy.

And since I rarely find myself having to air up/down these days, it's sitting in the garage rather than giving me a hernia while I move camping gear around the rig.

I've been bringing my Ridgid battery compressor - luckily it comes with 12v battery cord, too - but the lame duty cycle means I can only get three tires fully inflated before it needs a rester; I'm not sure how good a plan that is.

This is all a long way of saying that I had zero plans to onboard mount my Smitty-knockoff, but it takes up so much room that I'm now tempted to throw it into the engine bay.

Of course, doing it is another matter. I imagine that'll take me longer to accomplish than your leaky wiper reservoir fix, so don't hold out waiting for my thread ;-)

Thanks again for all the pointers and visuals!

I did the metric to nsf fitting at the end of the handle and used a brass tee and did pressure switch and normal check there. Works fantastically. I want to go back and redo the wiring when I bedside mount the compressor using expedition essentials mounting bracket here in a few weeks. Of course the only picture I can find is partially obstructed by my homemade air up/down system and minion air tank. This is what happens when you have 2 heart surgeries and can’t work for 45 days. Will post better pictures when it’s light tomorrow 5093D900-93C1-4306-A321-F00C8C642DE8.jpg6D28FEFE-5EAD-40D0-BD82-23C563851172.jpg
