Yeah I’ve grasped that. Now that I’ve got the OE LCA mounts off, and the new just bolted in to test fit, it’s like the new front LCA mounts are pushed too wide from the cross bar. And wide enough to get my fingers between?

Here is a bunch of pics of my install https://flic.kr/s/aHsmQKkER4

After grinding to get things as close as possible...I also used a floor jack to push things up and into place and welded it in that way. The floor jack method will really close up the gaps. Pretty sure JDFab told me to do this...as i'm pretty sure I didnt think of this myself.

as every part install thread should be

Best case scenario I hope your gaps are due to farther ahead sections of the part being hung up on material (that must be ground off) preventing it from being fully positioned where it should be
But I can’t see due to not being there, not that I have any experience with install either (hoping to do it in the future)

    what cross bar?

floor Jack sounds like it could work
I doubt it would modify the suspension geometry in final position in enough of a way to be bad but I’m not 100% sure

they say every frame can have a minor variation due to slight bending, tweaking, or bowing over time from wheeling which makes sense

Jack it with it bolted together?
The front is spaced by a cross bar and indexed by skid plate bolt holes. It’s almost as if the cross bar is too wide. The gaps are large enough I can jamb 4 fingers in there and no signs of contact elsewhere preventing fitment. I’m gonna try to jack it in the morning, but concern is with as much movement as would be required to get against the frame. Something is bound to be out of line.

Yup...take a look at this pic....I have floor jacks on both sides pushing it up into the frame...and I wasnt nice about it either...may have barely been on the jack stands

After the fact...I was worried that the skid plate may not line up because I didnt have it on putting all that pressure on it...didnt make a difference...skid plate fit perfectly

Thank you! This relieves a lot of concern!

I did the same thing using jacks. I did still have one spot that had a decent gap and I just used some filler rod in that area.

Yep, same here. Had to grind off a fair amount and then jack it up in the front LCA mount pretty hard.

This helped so much. Got it all back together and finally aligned / inspected earlier this week! Spec’s came out perfect!
