What is this, bushing?..yes newbie

Noticed this when I picked up the truck. Taking back in but don't want to look like anymore of a dumba$$ as nessassry. Passenger side, driver side that rubber washer is on straight. I searched the forum but couldn't find the answer, sure its there someplace though.

Thank you.. Any idea why one side looks correct and the other crooked besides the rech just wasn't paying attention? I guess what I'm asking is this common? Can't get it back in the shop for a few days so don't want to jack something up.

 

What were you having done to the truck?

 

I usually rotate the coil end to face inboard so the isolator is contained by the shock tower wall. They usually have a wiggle in them but I don't think it sticking out that much is normal. Is it a new isolator or reused?

 

Looks like a spacer lift was installed at least.

 

I see it there now. Truck doesnt look new so Im assuming the isolator was reused and then either installed incorrectly or just failed. Or maybe over tightened and the point of failure is the only non-metal part so the strut just shit the isolator out.

Those cheap pieces of rubber should always be replaced unless the current one is basically new.

 

I agree that they should be replaced every time. They only take the weight of that corner, nothing gets tightened down on them.

 

I actually had Toyota do it in San Marcos. I talked with the service Mgr, parts and accessories chick. They all said to avoid screwing the warranty they would need to do it. Which cool with. It was more expensive by 180 bucks or so but they had all the part's. Had to get the fuel pump recall done so figured just do it all at once. Service guy seemed like a good dude. They said just bring back in. Looked at everything else it seems installed right. The accessories lady, of course, was off which is who I need to set the appt with.

Had a 2000 for 19 plus but just drove the piss out of it. So this is my first lift. Older, better off money wise etc...

 

Good deal then. See if you can get them to replace both isolators too.
