It reminds me of when I was a gigging musician in my early 20s, and I could only afford crappy gear. But I did my best to make my cheap gear sound as good as I could. Now I'm in my 40s and have some really high quality guitars and amps, but very little time to play, and no band.

But, I enjoyed the experience then and now. Nothing will ever line up perfectly.

Ask your wife or GF. I'm sure they can find a "good use" for the extra $$.

Good comparison! I was very lucky to have an amazing instrument when I was young, a Warwick 6 string Thumb bass. I could only afford it because my Grandpa died and left me some $$, though. I have never regretted spending nearly all of it on a musical instrument. But, I would trade it in a second for one conversation with my Grandpa.

EDIT: I still have the bass, and it has only gotten better with age. It's 26 years old now!

Are there any 4x4 clubs in your area? If so you could possibly join one.

I will. I see several Taco's around here, not pavement princesses, set up to wheel with the scars to indicate they do. I must get involved.

It's always better to have plenty of money, and everything you want...

Check Facebook if you're on there. I have to rely on others to forward me information about events from Facebook. It might be worth joining just to network with 4×4 clubs. It seems that most of the events around here, aside from the ones I plan, are organized there.

If I have money and don’t want anything it’s because I already bought everything I want

    ^This.

I bought everything I wanted and then started getting stuff I only kinda wanted, only to end up either just looking at it or selling it/giving it away.

Now I have to really want it before I'll buy it.

I have over 100 items in my Amazon cart that I ponder now and then to see if I'm ready to actually buy it. The Buy rarely happens.
