Last year I bought a Snugtop shell at a wrecking yard. It had been sitting upside down out there for some time and was 1/2 full of water/dirt/debris. Evidently the water loosened the adhesive used on the heavy felt material lining the inside of the shell and I eventually removed the material completely because I got tired of dealing with it.
Removing the lining material left the (somewhat rough) bare, unfinished fiberglass structure exposed. I've washed it off with a hose to remove any lingering dirt and dust but I'm not comfortable with it 'as is'. The rough fiberglass snags my hair when I get too close and the thought of sleeping under it-makes me shudder.
I want to 'seal' it or coat it with something to smooth it out, prevent 'shedding' of glass fibers, and provide a barrier between IT and ME. (I've had way too much 'up close and personal' experience with fiberglass: true horror stories!)
I'm considering buying a can of the bondo fiberglass resin and some hardener and applying it as if I were 'glassing' a project-just not adding any more 'glass'.
Do you think this will work? Any 'down side' or potential issues you can think of?
    Anyone tried this?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on what else, if anything, might work on the underside of my shell to seal it off.
Thanks in advance for chiming in!
