anyone towing any campers with your Tacoma? They are rated for 6500 lbs, has anyone come close to that weight? (inexperienced tower here)

Hi @LMR, I tow about 80% of the gross combined weight rating. It's an Rpod 179 usually loaded for camping around 3200# with a tongue weight of about 380#. Occasionally it's weight is up to 3700# (with full tanks) which is the max this trailer is rated for. I find that my Tacoma does well with this particular weight (under 4000#) and mostly flatland. I have towed it up and down a few hills in Ontario with no problem, just keep an eye on what gear to be in with rpm 2700 and above. Truck is also OVTuned so gearlock is very handy for this job. The next iteration of OV Tune (2.0 final) is supposed to have a tow/haul type of arrangement with gearlock so I'm interested to try that.

With my set up I tow conventionally (no weight distribution) and with about 1/2 the allowable tongue weight there is only an expected amount of rear compression so everything is pretty level when underway.

Hey all. Haven’t been here in awhile. Don’t have my 15 Sierra anymore, it was written off in dec. Now have a 19 Sierra slt full load. Gonna be trading it on a 2020 Tacoma sport dbl cab long bed. It already has a 3/2 ready lift level, trd wheels, ko2, running boards, trd exhaust and it’s going to get a leer cap. I’m nervous about going from a big boat to a midsize.

No need to worry or fret. You can get just as stuck in a mid sized if you really play your cards right.

I've used Autostripe on Dugald a few times for previous vehicles and the work has always been excellent and reasonably priced.

Has anyone installed running boards on their truck. I just bought a set of used ones and when I installed them they were loose. I tightened the crap out of them and they are still loose. I used two washers, still loose. I think maybe the guy gave me the wrong hardware? Any suggestions?

Some models are “Universal Fit” which if you read between the lines means they don’t fit anything really well. Measure the right length of fasteners you need. Then go to a fastener store & look for Stainless Steel fasteners if you ever want to ever get ‘em off again.

Thanks @FastEddy59 I did buy new bolts, re-tapped the holes and everything bolted in nicely.
Anyone have some recommendations for a new cat back exhaust? Should I buy one myself then have it installed, or ask one of the local shops to do everything. Had previous exhaust systems done by Benders and TrueWay. Both did nice work. I'm just looking for something simple and not too loud, like a flowmaster or something similar. Any thoughts?

    I am From Selkirk, Manitoba
Bought my tacoma April 31, 2021
I am happy with everything except the integrated GPS!!!
paid for gps and they tell me to use google maps from my phone.
Cannot enter gps coordinates as they cannot fine the Roads 20 km north of Selkirk
Do not have data on my phone so have to use offline maps for google
My question did all the older units before 2018 have this issue?
Can I install a older unit without integrated gps and ad gps add-on unit.
    Thanks for your help

I’m in Kenora, but may as well be Manitoba. Anyone frequent Seddons corner or know of any great entry level trails near-ish Winnipeg? Hope to get out with the truck and play around a bit to get comfortable with Off-Roading and learn the truck.

    Hey man,

We spend lots of time near seddons camp out at the gravel pit and near the river every now and again.

You could also hit up the north star trail just to get a but more trail time on something different than seddons.

There is a pretty active toyota group here in Wpg if you've got telegram I can point you in that direction.

Maybe some other Wpg mbrs on here might wanna do a meet up talk rigs that kind of shit. We could set something up.
