I drive a 2018 SR5 Taco. Currently at 40k. No extreme driving conditions. Change my oil every 5k. I've been sticking to Mobil 1™ 0W-20 Advanced Fuel Economy. I see they have a basic Mobil™ Full Synthetic 0W-20 that sells at my local BJs for considerably less $. Has anyone made the switch and actually experienced a drop in MPG? I hope to get a couple hundred K out of this truck and don't want to be short sighted. But, given my low oil change interval, could I realistically expect to see any difference? Or is my extra $ just going toward Mobil's marketing budget? Thanks!

Depending on how much you make per hour, you'll probably waste more money calculating your fuel savings.

Any name brand oil that meets the specs in the owners manual. Anything extra is a waste of money.

Marketing. No way there's a significant mpg differences between 0W-20 oils. If there were the OEM's would be all over that for EPA data improvements.

I think its recommended to use mobil1 extended performance when changing the oil in these 3.5 engines. Its basically all i used in my tundra.

    My understanding as well...
It's the closest thing to Toyota oil on VOAs.
