@Alberta_Taco I have a quick stupid question OP, but could the rattling be coming from the cover plate of your Cat's? This happened to me and that was the culprit. Same exact issue regarding a rattling in Drive or reverse but not neutral.

Actually most aluminum skids that I have researched are very thick, and half the weight. I have been looking at a combo of steel and aluminum skids for mine. The fuel tank skid will likely be aluminum. Just so that I don't add to the Taco lean:D

Mine are all RCI and 1/4"...I think they're great for most things except real hardcore wheeling. If I end up destroying them I'll upgrade to steel but the weight savings is nice.

good thing your opinion was to buy an OR with an all factory supplied skid plates. Yet here you are blabbering about what your opinion is when its useless information. Others have had this same issue with rattling under the trucks and are willing to assist with troubleshooting, providing productive feedback and ideas for resolving said known tacoma issue. ie re-routing the exhaust to eliminate possible interference between skids and exhaust.

perhaps you can take your comments elsewhere.

    Update...

Yesterday I went under the truck and removed the 3rd skid plate. As suggested by @CanadaToy the rattling was indeed the exhaust rubbing against the 3rd skid plate. You can see inside the skid plate where the exhaust was rubbing and on the exhaust pipe the paint transfer.

With the 3rd skid plate removed the rattling has stopped.

Now onto finding a local muffler shop to assist with the rerouting the exhaust as suggested by @3JOH22A

Once I get pricing and the exhaust rerouted I will update this thread again.

Also, I'll be talking to a buddy of mine whose a welder to flatten out the 3rd skid plate for reinstallation once the exhaust has been rerouted.

    I do appreciate everyone's assistance.

    Enjoy your Sunday.

    AB Taco
