I'm looking to upgrade my original stock suspension + tires on my 04 v6 4x4 and have a couple of questions. Here are the upgrades I'm looking to do:

    OME rear shock
OME front shock + coil 2880 (adds +1" lift in front)
Wheelers AAL (adds +1.5" lift in back)
New Tires 235/85r16 Cooper St Maxx on stock 16" alloy rims

Will these tires fit ok with that amount of lift? Will these tires fit on the OEM 16" rims?

My goal is to make some solid upgrades without breaking the bank or getting into too much lift, I do have an A.R.E canopy on the truck now. Thanks for your help.

I would eventually like to take a similar approach with my truck, but for me the sticking point is whether the existing leaf packs are too old and worn to be viable candidates for AAL. As I understand it, the issues are twofold:
    1. The AAL can wear at an accelerated rate, because it takes more load than intended.
    2. AAL on a worn factory leaf pack can potentially contribute to failure of the main leaf pack, because the tired main leaf springs may now flex where the shorter and stiffer AAL contacts it from beneath. Leaf springs generally are supposed to flex evenly along their entire length, not at a single point.
The solution to both issues is to replace the main leaf pack, perhaps with a HD version to achieve the desired lift. This solution would of course be required if issue #2 were to occur, which would mean money spent on the AAL is sunk.

Perhaps a progressive multi-leaf AAL would at least mitigate issue #2 and be an acceptable compromise?

What is the HD version? Also, I've heard that you can take a leaf out of the Dakar packs if there is too much rear lift. Have you looked into that option? I *think my leaf packs are in decent shape, so I may try the AAL and see how it goes. The wheelers AAL is only $75 so not too bad even if it only buys me some time. I'm not planning on putting too much weight on them at this point that's why I think the Dakars may be too much.

    I like them so far.
I've yet to REALLY test them though.
After my new lift and CV axles get installed ;)

General Spring makes both stock replacement and HD springs for Tacomas: https://www.generalspringkc.com/200...ner-heavy-duty-rear-leaf-spring-4-3-1-leaves/

I suppose the HD springs are nearly as pricey as Dakars, but might support your canopy a bit better than Dakars with a leaf removed. With all of these options, we start getting into a great deal of uncertainty about final ride height, because there are so many factors that come into play, including how much the old springs are currently sagging.
