With all of this talk about taking the torque maps, averaging them out, then using the averaged values, I decided I would make a tool to do just that.

Of course, with Excel formulas, you wouldn't be able to copy and paste the values. This tool doesn't use formulas (in the typical Excel sense), so the values generated can be copied and pasted! And after generating an average map, you can still make changes to the averaged values and see them displayed in real-time.

    Example generated average value graph:
    Average Example.jpg

This is a very basic tool that I wrote up in a few hours or so and have only made small tweaks to it since then. It serves its purpose and figured others could benefit from it as well. After all, most of us work together on improving tunes and drivability. Why stop now?

There is some coding you may have to do if you wish to change it to support your ECU. I built this tool to support 04B81, so there may be more or fewer maps than vF displays for your ECU ID. I think I made it fairly simple for those that wish to make changes, even without any coding experience. But if you find yourself having issues, I'll be glad to assist.

    Features:
    • Button to generate an average value you can then use in your tune
    • Button to copy the average values to the clipboard. Or highlight and copy the values yourself
    • Each sheet has a 3-Dimensional graph that can be rotated (kind of a PITA, but it works)
    • Auto-scaling graphs - updates as axis values change
    • Instant updates to graphs - updates as values change
    • Graphs and values displayed similar (used lightly) to vF Tuner
    • Editable average values - to tweak even more (remove valleys, smooth out, etc.)

    To run the file:
    1. Download and open the attached .zip file
    2. Extract the .xlsm file
    3. Open the extracted file
      • Optional: Verify in the code that I'm not stealing your data or doing anything malicious
    4. Select Enable Editing and/or Content from the top of the window
    5. Follow the instructions given on the "Instructions For Use" worksheet
    6. Profit

So, this would involve copying and pasting all the map values from Transmission Throttle Reduction section (Transmission Torque Model - Optimal maps), getting the average, and pasting that average value map in to all of the 'Optimal' maps? Or, whatever the vF tune gives.

If there are more or less, can you leave a tab blank? Or, must the number of tabs match the number of Optimal maps?

    I like it.

    You are correct.

As the current code is written, if you leave a sheet blank, it will skew your average (as it is expecting values to be there). Code could be added to ignore the blank sheet manually or automatically (based on cell value).

If you add more sheets, there is a variable in the code that will need updating ("numPages" or something like that). I don't have it in front of me at the moment to verify.

Currently the code will loop through all of the sheets in the workbook and snag the values in the specific cells that contain the values of each torque map.

Excellent. That doesn't sound too bad.

It seems that 04C20 has a different count there.

Not sure if that's a good thing or not.
This file may become useless soon enough though. Mat has mentioned a future update will only have one to screw around with.

It doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Oh. He might be doing the Single Torque Map Patch for the ATs. Still though, it is NBD to make them all the same. There are times when I wish 5th and 6th gear could be different maps.

You don't think MT's will get the same patch?

We've had that. @OVTune made a test tune with just the Single Torque Map Patch. It was so good that I seriously thought that is was combined with other 2.0 Beta elements. Everyone that tried it was . That level of consistency and predictability was transformational.

@MOC221_ is stuck on 04B42 Stock for a while and noticed the different torque maps fucking with him.

I'm thinking we can make 5th and 6th customizable still.

I'm about to start digging into the atrta map to figure out what speeds those raw values are.

It's not a direct gear but could be used for sure.
