Judging by the fact they look crusty but you got em anyway Chevy springs dont go bad like Toyota ones?

I thought all springs sagged out over time

For springs from 1998 I'm surprised they even had some patches of paint. They're in decent condition really, even the rig they came off of was clearly totaled due to something falling on the roof. They can certainly go bad, but unlike Toyota leafs they aren't overly soft for the application and they're designed to ride at an arch rather than flat. They hold up much better as long as they aren't habitually overloaded. They had some 2500/3500 springs too for the same price, but they looked way too heavy for my little truck (which isn't anywhere near as overloaded as some other Tacomas).

 

The Chevs I used were two leafs and an overload.

 

I couldn't find any listed like that. Maybe the later model ones have less leafs? 88-98 leafs are 3+1 or 4+1, or 5+1 if it was a dually. I got 1500 springs from a 98. 99 and later used a larger bushing bolt and none of my hardware for hangers is compatible.

 

And here I am familiar only with the Chevy monoleaf found on vans

As much as I beat up that astro, I never broke that giant ass fiberglass leafspring lol
