Switch Pros 9100 install and BS thread

In theory you could use the switchpro to carry the compressor current if you created a trigger out of the pressure switch so that the compressor would turn off and on properly. This would use up one of your switchpro trigger wires for pressure control of the compressor and require wiring up the pressure switch with a pull-up or pull-down resistor. I'll stick with the stock relay triggered with the pressure switch, but it's definitely doable for the determined.

 

So, Just tuning into this thread and was curious i have the switch pro 9100 unit and got the baja design light bar the s8 series that has the backlight and was curious if you can do a multifunction on these switches ?

 

You will need to dedicate a switched output to the backlight if you want that on/off, dimmed, strobed, or flashed independently.

 

Yeah that’s what I was thinking I may have to do is dedicate a switch for all my backlit lights and dedicate individual switched for the actual lights themselves

 

Is there a way to have the same light attached to two buttons...like one would be normal use as on-off and and the other button to strobe that same light?

 

Just configure the switch so a double press is strobe. Single press is on.

 

You can do that by connecting to one switch output and configuring the strobe function in the app. You can set up one touch or double press to strobe. If it's setup to double press strobe then it functions as on/off with single press.

 

Anyone running hood lift struts with a power trays setup? I have an arb twin under the hood and I'm getting tired of using the hood prop everytime I air up my tires.

 

Got back from a trip last week, wherein we camped about 5 miles from a correctional facility. It was also below freezing and snowing, so we had the tent completely closed up (ok, yes, except for ventilation you literal larrys), with no visibility. I swear I heard footsteps crunching through the snow around the truck that night, and rustling. I figured if it was a human we'd have been confronted by now, as there was no way anyone was going to ninja shit out of the truck without waking us up (and if so, then I'm dealing with a moron which tips the scales a lot in my favor), so I started to think maybe it was a bear, hungry after hibernation... possibly an even scarier reality than a human with which one could possibly reason with or bribe. Speaking of morons, I'm the moron for not bringing a sidearm let alone bear spray with me. Never again. Either way, I came back with the idea (necessity is the mother of all invention) to do something like what you've done here.

I'd like to hook it up to the actual vehicle's panic button so that the horn triggers as well. It will be even more effective once I have flood lights installed around the vehicle. Does anybody know off-hand where to tap the SwitchPros into for the panic? Is this even possible or will I have to resort to using up one of the 8 buttons on the SP for this?

Yea, I am. I bought some 1/2" spacers to push it out. Works great. You'll have to buy longer bolts too. I don't remember the thread-pitch off hand, but they're metric I can tell you that. ProTip: Ace Hardware has the best selection of bolts. I can't believe I've walked this earth for as long as I have and never knew this—I've been going to HomeDepot for everything and Ace crushes HD in this literal department. Just bring one of the bolts with you and thread-fit one and then find a longer one with your spacer in hand.

Ace also sells a limited selection of spacers, but I'm OCD and over-engineer everything so I bought

$6 Small Parts 500814RS303 Stainless Steel Unthreaded Spacer, 1/2" OD, 1/2" Length, for 1/4" Screw Size

stainless steel ones off of Amazon. They're expensive. HD sells chrome plated ones, and I think aluminum for cheaper. I know the trays are aluminum, but maybe one-day I'll have a stainless steel one. Until then, I pray the Galvanic Corrosion gods spare me.

I just finished installing my

$659 SP9100 Switch Pros SP-9100 8-Switch Panel Power System With Concealed Mounting Hardware

SP9100. Its a great accessory. I was wondering if any has figured out to use one of the switches to open the garage door using the garage remote. The issue im seeing is that its a 3v battery in the remote any suggestions

 

MESO overhead panel and AOB switch gets that done.



But the easy option is homelink mirror. There is a great thread for that.

Rats, after all that I notice you are 2nd Gen. still, any switch blank gets it done.

 

Are you worried about applying 12v to a 3v device? You could step it down. I’m sure there is a cheaper DIY way, but

this could work.
I’ve been toying with wiring something up along this line but I think I’m gonna go the home link route to not use up a precious switch spot, and keep it feeling more “OEM”.

 

Does anybody have experience with the SDHQ panel (link) that mounts under the OEM switches? It's hard to tell how low it hangs down and was concerned it may get in the way when trying to shift.

 

I’ve never seen that one (must be new) but I’m pretty sure i would definitely bash my knee on it

 

I hit my knee right now, can't imagine how much worse it'd be with that panel.

 

Agree with everyone else, I don't think they were targeting that one towards people with a clutch.

I have this same mount. No issues here. Just be mindful it's there.

 

Has anyone had issues with using the terminal strip instead of butt connectors? I know Switch-Pro recommends to not use one. Asked in the PowerTrays thread also...
