A lot of Western MA unmaintained roads are either still in decent enough shape and well-traveled enough where they'd be easy for a Subaru or they were blocked off 50 years ago and became wildlife management land - those are so grown in that they're tricky to follow even when hiking now.

There are some outside of parks and state forests that aren't blocked off and are really rough if you know where to look, though.

Yup, a GPS wanted me to go that way once. That wouldn't end well.

There's quite a bit in the Windsor area - they don't tend to block off their unmaintained roads and some are pretty gnarly because they aren't in areas where it makes sense to use them.

What would you recommend a vehicle have to take on Old Florida Road? Tire size, lift, Armor, Winch etc. What was the most surprising vehicle you have seen do it?

Hopefully soon. The biggest thing is the mud of the spring. We don't want to ruin any trails.

Locked front and rear, winch and/or recovery points, full skids and sliders, a spare driveshaft. I put a nice ring in my driveshaft on the first step up. The smallest I know of doing it is my truck and my buddy's 3rd gen T4R both on 35s and locked. Cody may have done it with his 3rd gen T4R with only one locker but I'm not completely sure. Cant be afraid of body or under carriage damage going through there

It's been years since I've seen it but at the time I thought there were sections that wouldn't even be a walk in the park for an ATV. Sounds like I'm remembering correctly.

Right? Its almost impossible around here unless you own one of the big companies. I don't know why people live in the city. Work work work so you can pay out the ass for what? I don't see a single benefit. Can always travel if need to see a specialist or something. After finding a wife/hubby there ain't no reason to go anywhere near one outside of weekend entertainment or museum stuff.

Guy, I hope its a family emergency and not just a random, "hey I miss MA" because if it isn't required by life, there is not a single reason to leave where you are, well at least not to come here.

Lol i got offered to run a sailing center in the Boston Harbor. Currently, I’m a seasonal employee for the Cibola National Forest (and being seasonal is tough). It’d be nice to be back with family and get back to my sailing career. Wasn’t quite ready to give up my life out west though. I was so sick of Boston, and the crowdedness of the NE, all the security cameras, anti 2A, and police presence seemingly everywhere... It’s been hard watching my parents get old and living so far away. So there’s pro’s and con’s to each. These big decisions are always so difficult for me, I been beside myself since I got the offer yesterday.

Okay, ruler of the 7 seas is a pretty good job, and getting back into the mix with family are good reasons and pass my test, you're allowed back:rofl:

I hope you do well, make good money quickly, then buy yourself a nice vacation/retirement spot back there to visit.:fingerscrossed:

I couldn't do that life. The girlfriend always lived in very suburban areas and our 2/3 of an acre on the river is like heaven to her so she looks at me like I'm crazy when I say I still want a bunch more land some day.

Funny thing, when I bought the house the weather was awful every time I looked at it so I didn't look past the drop-off in the back yard assuming anything past what I could see was probably useless land. I was also a little disappointed in having close-ish neighbors, but for what I could afford I was finding I had to either compromise on having a garage or having more privacy/space.

Turns out I kind of got both. I have this below the hill that I never walked out to when I bought the house:

    upload_2021-3-24_13-54-56.jpg

I might try to do a small garden down there this spring. Still have a little snow that needs to melt.

Before you do make the move, you might think about doing a "Pre-Fluid Film/Woolwax" coating on your truck lol. Moving from a dry New Mexico to an area of brine and salt roads due to crappy weather is going to be a big change for your taco.

    Thanks!

That's probably its average amount of water in that picture. Sometimes it gets lower if we have a few dry weeks. I've had it get as high as the four wheeler is in that picture a couple times.

Fire pit is just landscaping bricks from Home Depot stacked in a circle, nothing fancy, but I'm happy with how it came out. I do need to build or buy some wood chairs. Those cheap plastic ones blow away if it gets windy and I find myself fishing them out of the woods.

Good question, though in this state I'm sure it just takes one asshole to call the police. Friend of mine is going through something like that now where he was driving with his pistol on the console next to him unloaded and someone started yelling at him outside his window, he never touched it but they accused him of threatening their life.

Is that where you have all the rights on your property/home?

Talk about hitting the lottery you're first spring when you realized you actually did get that spot you really wanted :thumbsup:

Nice digs there. I worked in the city which is all the more reason I don't want to live there, just prefer my peace and quiet. Even 5 minutes from a college I don't see any of the overflow etc but I'm a quick drive from the stores.

Wow, I'm surprised at that. I doubt every state is like that, might help if they were.
