Well, I’ve only asked myself “what the hell did I get myself into?” About 30 times so far, but it’s getting better. Everyone is really nice and helpful, and they bought me a pile of new tools which is cool. I actually jumped out of the bucket yesterday, and then asked to do it again cause it was kind of fun! I just hope I never have to do it in real life.

I have a Glowforge basic, it’s a 40 watt co2 laser.

I made a blast gate out of some Baltic birch plywood on my shapeoko for the exhaust


It goes through the wall into the garage attic and into a dayton squirrel cage fan and ultimately out a roof vent of the garage


The duct has been insulated since the install due to condensation from the warm inside air and cold attic ambient


Mostly I am engraving wooden products that I sell on Etsy

 

That is neat. Any pictures of things you've engraved?

 

I actually paid attention and made a left and right. Now to fire up the hot glue gun.

I’ve had a couple wooden plaques engraved for our son with deer he’s taken. I need to get another one done sometime. I’ll get up with you and see if you’d be interested

That turned out really good! I think the glowforge has a capacity of around 10"x18" or so, it's hard to tell the dimensions from the picture but if it would be within that size I'd be more than happy to give it a try when you are at that point.

Awesome setup you have, I wish I had home time to dedicate to stuff like that!
Slightly smaller than the one we have, add 3,960 watts to yours! 4,000 watt Co2 with a 5’x10’ bed.
