:hattip: Good Morning Cool Old Dudes and Susan

Getting gear together for another cabin wkend. Looks like snowshowers for drive in...the visual effect should add some nice aura to the experience. System clears overnight and Friday forecast looks conducive to more tree felling and hauling. I come back for work Sat/Sun/Mon, then Danny and I both took leave to stay out there Tue thru Sat next week. Trying to max out tree hauling while we still have snow to haul on; it keeps the wood cleaner for milling.

Be safe, healthy, and most importantly, HAPPY! :woot:

    Respect :oldglory:

    Good morning all,

A skiff of snow this morning and 12 degrees this morning, winter still has its claws on us here, high today in low 30's. Keep sending spring projects, gives me hope LOL.

Going to the bank today and taking the dogs - we need to get out. Still waiting on the scheduling for the nuke test..

Mike, wish you were closer, I have a snow-blower that needs some work. The small engine repair service up here is OK they definitely help getting the engines to run in altitude but I do not have a good feeling when I go there - I admit my limits when it comes to small engines so why do they have to make you feel like an idiot???

Have a great day, be safe

It’s hard with non adjustable carbs. I try and find old school carbs with adj needles and swap them. Then you can adjust for altitude.

Good Morning Porch People! Only 0.07" from very early this morning, and some residual wind. No tornados or anything else. Would have liked some more rain, but this will make it easier to work the grass. Going to start on all that stuff I unloaded yesterday! Be good!

The older I get, the more it seems that I generate wax. WTH? It's bad enough that hearing deteriorates without wax clogging everything up.

Good evening Porch People. Yes, son has earwax problem, I don't. I have had Phonak hearing aids for over a decade; they are just fine for hearing things, and the world is nice and quiet if I take them out. If you have tinnitus, odds are 95% it will go away with aids!

So, I got the grass done, and ate up all the "extra" pavers in a compromise....
The added pavers by the sunroom door got a couple squares new grass.

And the other side of the walk; we're always walking 6" off the walk and the grass is always worn. So, I gave it a 6" edge of pavers, and some new sod. AND I f'd myself by being REAL careful not to hit the fence power wire with the tiller. I did it with the DAMN SHOVEL. So, fix that tomorrow....

Family compromise on the shed walk. They wanted me to move the steel edging out to the walk, but I don't have any extra pieces to make up the difference, and bending would be a pain. I planned for grass here:

Well, by changing the fruit tree path plan a little, I had just enough to widen with pavers, but then I had to till out a different path for new sod, and it wasn't as planned, but it will grow in.....

And that's the way it is. Have to hit some greenhouse project and FIX THE DARN POWER before I start the fruit tree project tomorrow..... But all the grass got used up like it needed to be.

If you do need hearing aids, check out Costco. They have a small markup on hearing aids, free hearing test. One of the perks (they are in the business to sell memberships and keep customers happy, hence hearing is not a profit item).

Costco doesn't accomodate people that live so far away that they would rarely shop there. I can't justify an expense like their membership for the once or twice a year I might get there.

Good morning, everyone!! Quiet day here yesterday - spent a lot of time behind a book instead of the field mower. Ground is too wet to work the hill areas I want to mow - sounds like a good Saturday morning project since we're supposed to have rain again this morning.

Nice work, Kurt! You are really knocking out the projects this year.

    Stay safe out there!

I've heard my tinnitus is my brain making up for sound the ears are missing, and will re-train if it can? IDK, even if aids only mask it, would be a blessing. I use the AUD-1 Iphone app while watching a little TV in the evenings. It works well, and it IS a blessing, but inconvenient for all day everyday.. plus it's not supported any longer, so as phone OS's change, it isn't updated, and will soon be obsolete.

TY I will look into this. I have my wife use the drops twice a day ant it seems to be working.

    You guys are brutal. :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

My neighbor recommends Costco. If I end up needing a hearing aid I will go there.

Birthday celebration lunch today. My wife and my cousin's husband have birthdays this week. Going to a restaurant on the bay today for a late lunch/early dinner.

Dometic 75DZ on order. I have an REI refund, 20% off full-price items this week. Hmm. Got my nice check from a medical study. Haven't grown a third eye yet, Still, I figure if I can be the guinea pig to help the next generation find drugs that work better. Nothing like having a cold beer after a day's hike and ice packs for my knees. I had T65 Fridge in the van, got used to not messing with ice and soggy cheese.

Meanwhile, some new whiz-bang administer decided to change the database at work. I just log in, read technical questions, and send back responses. Customers love me, work keeps me going, but I support 30-year-old legacy products (everyone else long since retired). Hard to explain I don't remember what I ate for dinner, nor what we had yesterday, but a question on legacy stuff and it is like I'm back in 1990 flying all over the world helping customers. Strange, but always a challenge when things change. Accept. Adjust. Adapt. Have a cold beer.

    Good morning all,

I have been using hearing aids for over a year now and it has helped lessen my tinnitus. My Doc referred me to a local hearing (audiology) center so Medicare took care of the cost. I actually have a tune-up next week. There is an app on my phone where I can adjust volume or filter when it is windy out - I can also eaves drop if I wanted to, turn my back and raise the volume in one or both. Most people never see them as the ear insert is minimal the apparatuses hangs off the lobe. I didn't think I would like them but was astonished how much I was missing in the higher ranges. Listening to music is a lot better and watching TV is easier. But mostly that dang ringing is cone.

Another skiff of snow this morning, more on the way tonight so tomorrow will not be an outside day unless you call plowing an outside activity - right now I call it push and pile white stuff....

Have a great and safe day everyone.

I've been wearing hearing aids since the 1990's. Childhood filled with ear infections left me with crap for bones in there, and eardrums like onion skin. I also have a heck of a case of tinnitus in my right ear, one of the results of one of the ear surgeries I've had. I probably pay too much but I buy the best hearing aids they make, with all of the bells & whistles and bluetooth and iPhone app and all the rest. My hearing is too bad, and too important for me to do otherwise. As I type this I am listening to Meg Griffin's Disorder streaming straight in from my iPhone. Naturally phone calls go straight in too, and directions from Google Maps, and other super handy things.

I've heard about the Costco pricing and I am intriuged. My employer-provided insurance covers them so I have not tried Costco yet for myself. When I retire that math will change!

My dad got a pair from the VA, top of the line like the ones I get, zero cost to him. Might be another avenue to look into for the vets among us.
