yeah I suppose the tradeoff is durability. I run ergon on all my bikes and they last forever but become a sweaty mess after only a few minutes. I'm shooting my shot with ESI...will report back lol

I bought AXS X01 when I found it on sale.
It shifts great and there's no half as shifting if you're tired, you hit the button it shifts rather under load or not. I'm sure the machined cassette also has some help in shifting.

I will say it's not a tune once and done, as the motor goes back and forth it will get out of adjustment and need only the slightest adjustment.
The motors are precision, but you're asking it to maintain some extreme tolerance going back and forth thousands of times and it just can't do that.
Even some of the most expensive and accurate machines have to be recalibrated from time to time.

This may also be because my unit takes the same abuse it would rather it was SX. Mine is scratched and gashed, but it just keeps working mostly perfectly.

After buying AXS though it will follow me until they release V2, AXS can also easily be changed between your rocket trail bike and your burly enduro rather easily.
Say less than 30 mins and that's including tuning. Can't take X01 and XX1 shifter and mech with you like that between bikes with anything else.

Yea, they're definitely a bit less durable but they're also half the price.

No rattling cables (depending on frame) can be a benefit too on top of others listed above. I won't claim it's a game changer (never tried it) but the slight advantages add up to a positive change IMO. Only real downside other than cost is getting in the habit of keeping the batteries charged.

In my own personal non experienced opinion, wireless is a luxury purchase. Nothing is wrong with wired. Like literally nothing.

like my hanes underwear is great, works perfect. Is there some sort of Egyptian silk that might be more comfortable for 2-3x the price? Yeah, but why?

if you want it get it. If you don’t don’t lol. But I do like that cheaper options are becoming available.

    They've since differentiated the pricing of GX $600, X01 $800, and XX1 $1000.
GX is without a doubt the best buy of the bunch since the only difference is material in construction of the mech making it heavier, the internals are the same though if I understood correctly.
Not sure if there's a difference in the shifter.

Oh yeah...for the bunch, it's definitely the most inexpensive. but still pricey.

you could get an old truck or pay 2-3x the price for a 3rd gen....

i bought a ton of stance socks and boxers back in december and holy shit the difference is worlds.

same thing goes with food. you could spend $5 for a burger somewhere, or spend $20 somewhere else. ive heard price caps for food is around $50 a plate. anything above that is more for the experience

AXS is nice, but so is XT, and XTR. It's all nice and you won't have bad performance on a properly tuned top of the line product from any company.

New products and development are not a bad thing as long as they don't raise the pricing of the cable actuated stuff to close the gap between wireless.

I agree. I'm fine with the GX Eagle pricing tbh. Probably the better value for money in the Sram lineup. You can pay more for lighter components but...meh.

You can have a great experience on a properly tuned not top of the line product too.

For sure, I rode the GX stuff a week or two ago for a few miles on the trails and it works great.
There's differences that are noticeable, but as far as fun on the trail it remains the same, and that's what it's all about.
