Found out today that my three nephews all living out-of-state have Tacoma's. So we are at 5 Tacomas in our family. We will reach out to them to join this forum.

After waiting for warehouse restocking, Lund side-steps arrived and All Extremes in Madison, Ohio did a fine job of mounting them up. Next step - wheels and tires.20190221_145412.jpg

I have decided to document the history and added accessories of my truck here mostly to have an ongoing record, and to let others see how some items look on a Quicksand SR5. I have read many opinions and advisements about oil in this forum. Decided on Mobil1 0W20 synthetic. Drove home after changing oil at 70 mph and ran at a lower tach reading. Very noticeable improvement. Now have 30K on odometer. Learned about removing the front skid plate and cartridge type oil filters that come on the Tacoma.
I am also in process of researching tires. The factory Firestone Destination LE2's are about 1/32 away from used up. I really like the lettering and sidewalls on the Rugged Terrain BF Goodrich and think they will compliment the looks of the truck. Keeping with the same stock size of 245-75-16 and painted cast wheels. I think Toyota got the styling and functionality right with those for highway driving through occasional deep snow.

Today the weather cooperated and I was able to apply my laser cut Tacoma decal letters to the tailgate. I thought the red would look good on the quicksand tan background. I think its a winner. Photo follows and you can judge.

20190603_163032.jpg Today we finalized the replacement tire process and actually had new tires installed. I wanted a OWL with a rugged looking sidewall. GT Radial Adventuro AT3 tires fit the bill perfectly and were very reasonably priced in stock size 245/75/16 shown mounted on the stock SR5 wheels. Deep tread with rain channels. I ran these before on a 4x4 pickup and had excellent 65K life, winter traction in Ohio's snow belt, never hydroplaned and were smooth on the highway. I hope this set delivers similar results. Have a look. I think they add curb appeal to the quicksand tan color.
