A local dealership advertises a 2019 Tacoma as a one owner vehicle. The link to the free Autocheck Vehicle Report provided shows two owners. The sales person said:

“So when a vehicle is being leased and it comes time to re-register the vehicle we do see that it does list as a second owner. So we do see it exactly how you see it. In this case I would be very confident in saying that is what exactly happen here and it has one registered owner.”

    Does this sound accurate?

I asked if Carfax also shows two owners but she has not replied yet. Thanks.

We bought a 2012 Mazda 3 that showed something like five previous owners? As far as we could tell, it was actually just two. The last one only kept it a short time. The thing has been as good as a car with 121k on it as we would have expected. 136k now.

For what it's worth, I'd rather buy a vehicle with 3 previous owners than 1 previous leaser.

Interesting. Our station wagon, MT at that, came off lease. We had it for 100k with a bunch of abuse from our daughters growing up. Traded it at 140k, still on the original clutch. The only issue that I found was that whoever did the service must have used dino or dyno-blend at one point. Not good on a HP turbo. There was some coked oil under the oil filler cap and we had to replace the breather kit once.

Other than that, it was fine. In reality, the big drawback was that it was FWD. Haha!
