No a bad ground, or a "dirty ground" will cause intermittent problems that are hard to diag. A true "short" to ground or resistance will cause a fuse to blow, or fail. Two different things. $2.67 in washers will repair the entire system so you can chase the problem. Start there, and then try to fix the problem if there is any.

EDIT....Yep, labor at the dealership is at least $125 hour in my areas. Try doing anything on a vehicle in less than a hour....LMAO.

Gotcha, so I'm not seeing a true short more like a bad ground. Yeah I might as well buy a bunch and go through and do that before going any further. Any other tips on what to check. I think the problem lays around where the head unit is. I spliced into the car charger port to get power to my usb connectors for my accessory mount. That's the only thing left but i unplugged that when i started getting these issues originally. Maybe that's grounding off bad

It's a never a bad idea..lol. Check how you spliced into the cigar lighter wire, could have some bare wire. Someone posted all the ground locations somewhere around here. You'll see them. I would disconnect the battery to while re-doing the grounds especially around the area of the ECU?BCM/BCM or anything like that. Those washers will dig into the paint, undercoating and improve the connection insuring continuity.
    Thanks

Sooo, update. Turns out that when I bought the truck used it came with a theft deterrent device and they wired it up like shit so it caused not only my ecu to get fried but also my fuse box so I gotta pay 2k to get it fixed. Go thing it wasn’t my fault but bad thing it did happen and I gotta pay 2 grand out of pocket to get it fixed. And they said they’re gonna give the truck a free wash lol well gee thanks. Also they said they’re gonna note in the paperwork that it was the device that was installed so best believe ima be walking my happy ass to the dealership that sold me the truck and installed it :annoyed:
