Tacoma sr 4x4

I have a 2021 Tacoma sr 4x4 and I notice it don’t have a front diff skid plate or splash not sure the correct term and could can I put one from another Tacoma model that has one

 

Yup any will fit as long as it’s made for your year truck .

 

My sr never came with one from the factory figured since it was a 4x4 i figure it would it has the front skid plate but not the one that covers front diff

 

The sr models are stripped down no skid plate no bilstein shocks and so on . You have a base model with 4x4 option that’s it .

 

Hi there, I had an 2016 sr and it came with front skid plate, and it was 2wd. The one that it didn’t had was the second one..

it is weird, maybe Toyota stopped installing it on newer models.

Is OP COMPLETELY sure the true I does not have the front skid?

 

I have the front skid plate I thought being a 4x4 it would have the front diff cover

 

I suspect if your '16 SR came with a skid plate as OEM it is likely a Prerunner.

 

oh ok, so you do have the front one.. ok same as I had on my 16’ sr. I actually bought the second skid used from another tw member for cheap.. try doing that..

 

I don’t think so, mine has a bare bones sr 4x2.. third gens do not have pre runner models.. not sure what you meant...

Shows how little I know about the Prerunner. @Claudiomartinof is correct - there are no 3rd gen Prerunners.
Once I got settled into my '06 TRD OR I stopped comparing to the new models. Would not have paid much attention to the 4X2 models anyway. Drove my '06 for over 14 years and never looked back.

 

SR, SR5, TRD sport, and limited models should come with the one single front splashguard/bashplate/skid plate thing. Mine came with one and it’s a 2016 SR 4x4.

The off-road model gets both a front plate and front diff plate.

The TRD pro skid plate comes on the TRD pro models. I can confirm that any of these plates will fit from 2016 to current models cause they all use the same mounting points although the pro skid uses spacers and longer bolts.

You can find a bunch of stock skids on the used market like Craigslist, Offerup, eBay or even Facebook. The oem front plate uses 4 bolts (Size M8-1.25 x 25mm) to hold it in place.

EDIT: Apparently the oem plates are called "Radiator Support Splash Shields" from the Toyota parts store.

 

Geez, i can't recall any gen3 sr 4x4's not coming with the engine guard here when looking at these trucks.
