sold it. We moved from the city last summer out to the country. Grom just wasn’t going to cut it.

Great fun in the city though. Couldn’t slap the smile off my face.

What is the groups thoughts on armor types?

I have D3O in some pants and love how flexible it is, but it's on the heavy side. My jackets have all had A-stars nucleon, which is lighter but is stiff as hell. I'm looking at replacing the jacket armor with D3O or something else thats more flexy.

SAS-TEK, RSD Microlock, Bio Armor/Bio Air Armor, Seeflex, the list goes on.

    Anyone have first hand experience?

I have all Alpinestars stuff - added a bio armor back protector and bionic chest pads to my jacket...a little on the stiff side. My jeans came with these knee inserts which are very comfortable/flexible.

Yeah my jacket came with the same armor, it's light but real stiff. If I bend my arms the little wingies dont bend around my arm and stay sticking out.

I'm leaning Klim D3O all around.. should be able to do shoulders elbows and back for around $100. The D3O hip and knee pads I have in my riding pants are so flexible.

Anyone get their hands on a Honda Rebel 1100 yet? My local dealer has one in in a week or two.

I’m a dual sport small light weight off road rider through and through.

Don’t like cruiser or crotch rockets.

Been considering a WeeStrom for years as a dual sport I can go on extended trips on but never buy one because we always take one of our Toyotas on long trips.

As odd as it is for me, I’m strongly considering the Honda for afternoon cruise days and short trips across state, nothing huge like I’d like to do on a Strom or T700.

Just curious if any of y’all have ridden one yet. Seems like a pretty “sporty” “tourer” but not traditional of either.

The rebel 1100 reminds me of the old Honda v65 magna but not as exotic. No v4, lower redline, less power. But same market segment.

I rode with a guy with a rebel 500. IMO, it doesnt look right. The tank is too high, and the exhaust is too low.

I don’t really buy tools based on looks. I find that to be the most overused word on vehicle forums ha.

VStrom is ugly as can be, but a great bike. All my little old Dual Sports are pretty ugly. Phenomenal at what they do. Right tool, right job, I let the boys looking for other boys approval worry about if their friends drool over their tools or not :) cheers

I need to do an oil change soon.

Damn Ducati filters are $18 lol. Any oil recommendations? oil weight? Should I just get the oil change kit for $80 ? Looks like Id need 4 quarts

I guess I also need a 14mm hex socket. Thats not something normal.. ugh. And I need to remove the exhaust to change the oil.

You should make the 14mm hex. 14mm bolt and a couple of nuts should pull the plug out. If you want to be fancy, you can weld the nuts to the bolt.

I wouldnt know how to make it. How would you do it?

    It goes to this:

I suppose I could make it. But for how many trips it took me to get all of the supplies to make my diy tube bender for my failed saddle bag brackets, I would think one trip to home depot to spend $6 for an actual socket would be much better use of my time..

You get a 14mm head bolt, and 2 nuts. Bolt head goes in the plug, and the two nuts thread on the bolt. Inside nut jams against outside nut and bolt turns plug. Used to do this for diffs in bmw’s back in the day.

This is the oil that I use in my Ducati. Spec calls for 15w50, but 10w50 works just the same. I use the 5w40 or 10w40 in my other bikes. Never had any issues and the price is pretty good for quarts of full synthetic.

I think Mahle is the manufacturer of oem Ducati oil filters. You might be able to pick up a Mahle on Amazon for around $12-$13 with prime shipping.
