Anyone here good with LED’s and retrofits? I picked up an older set of retrofits that have the angel eyes from Morimoto, but not the controller. The LEDs are SMD5050’s and I’m able to power them up using my old Arduino connected directly to them bypassing the driver. I have a controller on order that will work fine.

My question is what is the 5th wire coming into the LED driver? My plan is to just desolder the wiring harness and re-solder it to my new controller but I’m just curious what the fifth wire is. It’s five wires in and four out. The 4 wires out I understand, it’s green, red, blue and a power wire. No worries there, it’s just the fifth wire coming in, a white wire I’m unsure about. Technically I can just bypass the drivers and it will work fine but if I can utilize them that would be better.

    LED Driver I'm referring too.

5 wires could mean you have RGBW, but I'm not sure if Morimoto ever made RGBW angel eyes. The white wire could also be a constant power wire. I believe the Profile led strips have an extra power wire that is required to be connected to have the led strips work correctly. Just guesses though. You should have a black ground wire in there too.

    Good Afternoon,

I came across your post and saw that you have the same LED Morimoto setup I do.

I am trying to get more information on this setup. I purchased the truck and the PO had installed a Retrofit Solution - I am new to this and am seeking information.

Are the XCLed for controlling the Halo's? or is this for the headlights also? The Gold box/controller looks like it is for running HID's just not sure.

I am planning on digging deeper this weekend into the light system on the truck as I have some trouble shooting to do also
