They finally ordered the parts to do mine yesterday, so we'll see how that goes.

And the way you do it is probably the best way. What I described was how they did mine and the few I watched getting done.
I take my hat off to the dealership mechs that really try and do a quality job not just beat the flat rate / turn half the time back guys but the dude who says hey, I'm doing this my name is on this service it's gonna be right. Takes class act mechs to sometimes buck the system even at the price of losing work from thier supervisors.

Update: somehow, they got their hands on the replacement parts and performed the recall yesterday. When I got home I noticed a major oil leak. Back at the dealership now...

Get the fuel pump recall done. I had severe drivability issues with my 2018. Died on me twice in heavy traffic. I made the dealer tow it in for the recall, once I nursed it home.

Probably just sloppy work. They probably just didn't clean up the old oil that got on the skid plate. Like pulling the filter housing off and not draining it prior. Letting the oil filter pickup /inlet dribble on the skid plate etc. Hope that's all it is. Good luck.

On Tacoma you need to drive it in with 1/4 tank of gas or less, they partially drop the tank and replace it, mine was done in about 4-5 hours. Would call ahead and set up your appt, when I was doing it two three months ago they had a nice list.

Anyone notice a loss in fuel mileage as a symptom? After all the mods I’ve done I was averaging 14-16mpg. I did a 600 mile trip today 11-12mpg. 3k+ Rpm at 65+mph. I figured this was being caused by the fuel pump but don’t know for sure. Any thoughts?

Thanks. They accidentally put two washers on the drain plug. Sloppy work indeed. Took one off so now should be all good.

I'm going in on the 24th for combined fuel pump recall/oil change/TSB-0092-20 drivability check/change the directional signal from 3 to 6 appointment. The dealer has ordered the pump and I'll discuss the TSB and directional stuff with the service writer. They asked that I come in with 1/4 tank or less and offered me a loaner since it's a 6 hour or so job for everything.

I have the TSB in hand, but don't know if there is anything special I should say. Is the directional change done with Techstream and is there a specific name for that?

I took the Tacoma in for the fuel pump recall, oil change, possibly TSB-0092-20, and change the number of directional flashes. I decided not to mention the TSB until after I've driven the truck with the new fuel pump for a while.

The service writer called and recommended a front end alignment, which I agree to since it's been well over a year.

Everything was done except the writer told me that the tech couldn't find where to change the number of flashes in Techstream. I didn't make a big deal of it although I suspect the tech just didn't feel like doing it. It's still dumb that I can't change that in the infotainment system.

In case I decide to pursue this next time I'm in, is there a specific area in the software to look for that option?
