Cam gears for V6. Add power AND mpg

As long as your O2 sensors are working and commanding correct values then I don't see why you would fail.

 

I've sold most of these to California. No problems have ever been mentioned to me.

 

Pretty sure CA only does OBD checks, at least when I lived in SD they done away with sniffer tests

 

I currently live in a county in Colorado that does both an OBD II scan as well as a direct exhaust test.

 

That 14.7 AFR is fantasy. ECU also goes open loop at WOT. Hook up and AFR gauge and see when and for how long you’ll actually be at 14.7 in real world driving

 

And the ECU technically targets 14.6afr

 

You should be fine. Cali, Texas, and Colorado in that order buy these from me the most. When I lived in TX- sniffer test was still a thing, pretty sure it still is. Nobody has ever failed to my knowledge due to these.

 

I'm not defending the cam gears but I do have them waiting to be installed. One thing to consider is the throttle position and load. At WOT you will probably use more fuel and perhaps produce more hp/trq. At cruising speed, daily driving, and long distance driving when using cruise control, I can see the possibilities of increased efficiency and better fuel economy if the engine isn't working as hard as before to sustain a steady speed or accelerate at a normal pace. As most have said, these make cam gears make the truck feel "lighter" which I interpret as less throttle gives more response then prior (maybe I'm off on that). With that said, I had an Audi A4 that I put a larger turbo on (K03 vs T28 for those in the know) and it got phenomenal mpg while cruising and made far more power than before in WOT. I know apples to oranges with forced induction but it is possible to have your cake and eat it to though that usually isn't the case.

He hasn't installed or purchased. Just crapping on my sale thread
the proof of increased knock threshold posted on pg 2 and the independently done chart by another member here showing an increased maf (on post 1) mean nothing apparently without a dyno chart. These aren't even a new thing. Apr did them years ago, urd did them for years (only sold with the ucon system) and only recently started selling them independently. Between myself, apr, and urd- I'm sure 1000's of these have been sold. Must be a pointless mod though.

I'm averaging around 17mpg on daily "normal" driving. That's after my install, also running 4.56 gears w/ 32" tires (for now). One thing I noticed right away was my truck coasting a lot more! I'd do this mod again in a heart beat!

 

Waiting for the ORV park to open for the season ARE We there Yet?!?
