tie rods (4x4) where'd you get yours?

RockAuto is showing they only sell 2 wheel drive (may be different part)

am looking at doing a front-end rebuild and have tracked down every other part besides tie rods
Those of you with 4x4;
which tie rods (both inner and outer) do you run? Where'd you get them?

I'm hoping there isn't much to install
outers should be easy
inners might take a special wrench or pliers
hopefully no other parts needed like a steering rack boot and o-ring (if applicable)

 

I’ve never used MevoTech tie rods.
But I’ve used their UCA on a couple Ram 1500.
Been pretty happy with them so far.

They make Tie Rods for the Tacoma. You might have a look at them?

you can use channel locks or a pipe wrench to remove and install but the proper tool makes it easier.

Amazon says it doesn't fit
but Moog's site does. I trust them more than Amazon.
Hopefully the end up winning in terms of cheapest and good quality versus competitors like ProForged and MevoTech

I had no idea that tool existed. I hope it's the best one for the job.
In that case I may just rent it from Autozone when the time comes to do the job
because that way it will end up being free.

I'm not sure I change them often enough yet to justify the tool purchase though I certainly want it!

 

To avoid putting too much stress on the steering rack I rigged this adjustable wrench with a ratcheting strap when loosening and tightening/torqueing the inner tie rod. And yes if you can borrow the tool it is very well worth it.



And yes stupid me for buying the tool but I've used the tool four times already so it paid for it's self in my book. Best of luck!

 

I bought it today lol, never needed it yet but it’ll only be a matter of time!

 

I used moogs... Work fine.. definitely rent the tool from autozone ! I did. It's free wince you return it.. just use a credit card so the deposit doesn't come from your cash on hand!
