Ok guys and girls... so if you are like me, you may have a thing for a beautiful carbon fiber finish. And if your on this website, I’m assuming you have a Tacoma as well. One thing a lot of us Tacoma owners have always wanted was a true carbon fiber hood scoop! Well after a long time and talking with vendors like @MESO (who was so close but failed to produce) I started to realize this probably wasn’t going to happen. Well, the time has finally come for the next best thing...

If you haven’t already, you all need to check out tufskinz.com! They make some beautiful interior and exterior trim pieces. They have color matched options as well as real carbon fiber trim in flat and domed finishes.

Time for the hood scoop! Well, it’s here!! Since the beginning of February, I have been in contact with Brad and the team over @TUFSKINZ to develop a real carbon scoop overlay. And they did an amazing job. As usual, a true work of art. I went with the domed finish, and couldn’t be happier. As well, @TUFSKINZ will be giving us TW members exclusive access to a 20% off discount code to be used on their website!! The best part about it is, unlike a group buy that has limited number of product slots available, this is for as many people that want to join!! These things are going to sell quick, so once that discount code pops you guys better grab one!

...will add pics in following post of my truck with #1 installed. Sorry, was kind of an overcast day in Maryland and storms coming in distance.

...discount code. It’s Sunday, so I doubt it will be added today. @TUFSKINZ or myself will be adding it to this post first thing this week once it’s created. Promise!

    -Cheers!

Is this a piece of CF that just goes on top of the scoop?

From reading your thread title, I thought it would be a CF scoop, not just a piece CF laid on the top.
My first thought when seeing this is "why is that there?" Distracts from the overall beauty of your Tacoma IMO rather than adding.

I thought the same but.....I guess not.

I believe this qualifies as click bait. Not really a fan of hood scoops. But this especially is a hard pass for me.

Wow! Was not expecting this much of a love/hate relationship... guess it’s just one of those things where there is no in between.

First, sorry if the title was misleading. Was not trying to “bait” anything. I do see your point, and it was corrected for future readers.

Second, yes... an actual fully carbon hood scoop would be awesome, I would love one! And again, I came close to getting one developed a couple times, but no manufacturer would follow through after the prototype was finished. They always said making the original took too much work and would not be cost effective for what it was. Production would just be to expensive for some reason. So sadly, that’s where that idea died.

Lastly, don’t be a d’ck about it. If you don’t like it, that’s cool. No one is making you do it. I’m certain to guess that there are probably things about your truck I wouldn’t like... like the ugliest color ever (quicksand) or the fact that your driving a Tundra trolling around a Tacoma forum, or the fact that you simply choose to live in Shittsburgh, I mean Pittsburgh... I would never say anything about any of that, or call any of you out. Everyone has their flaws right. Again, no need to be a d’ck. Let people do their own thing.

I love carbon fiber. I don’t have a scoop not really a fan of those but I think the overlay looks good.

This is a public forum. There are dicks just like the real world.
With that said, I owned a few 3rd gen Tacomas and probably will again.
Also, I think a few people would disagree about trolling.
Finally, thanks for fixing the title. If you would have titled it correctly I would have never clicked.

Dang, dont take the opinions of less than a dozen internet strangers so personal. You post on a public forum, you will get the public opinion.

I just don't see the point of this product, especially since its a purely aesthetic mod, someone could buy carbon fiber vinyl at a fraction of the cost and achieve the same results.

But what do I know. My truck is mostly stock. So obviously I'm not the target audience.

I will say though, kudos to you and tufskinz for bringing more options for taco owners. Im sure there are people that will love this product.

    @slowlane

Appreciate the kudos. And yes, this is simply for ascetics. I have had a love of carbon fiber since I started tuning cars back in the late 90’s and it has followed me through the years in all aspects of performance, racing and modifications... so when I see an area or a use of it, I’m all about it.

There have been many discussion posts on here in past years of people looking for an actual scoop formed from carbon fiber. I just thought this was the next best thing if we weren’t going to get an actual scoop.

As for the price difference... your completely correct. You could vinyl wrap the scoop in a “fake carbon look” for much cheaper. But the use of “real carbon fiber” is just worth it. Carbon isn’t cheap to begin with, and then the use of 3M backing and the domed protective finish... I mean your paying for what you get. Like the stain above said, “pepboys stick-on” is what I would consider vinyl wrap or some cheap fake decal made in China... this is a “stick-on” but the craftsman ship, real carbon material, and quality of a US made product is what your paying for with TufSkinz.

People can like it or hate it, it is what it is at this point. Just hate how some people talk about others people mods... but your right.
