Hi - I've spent the past few weeks prepping to install my new head unit. After connecting and during testing I was getting some feedback in the speakers. I was able to figure out the noise is introduced when the oem rear camera rca is plugged into the new head unit via a Maestro harness. After being unable to isolate the feedback further I decided to add a ground loop noise isolater which is on order. All other functions are operating normally.

In the meantime I decided to button things up until the isolater arrives. I noticed I was getting a bit of a shock when touching the radio bracket then noticed it wasn't just the radio but when I touched the truck exterior as well when sitting inside and touching the exterior or sliding out and touching something. It shocks once than won't do it again until I shut the truck power off then either hit the start button once for accessories or if I start the truck again.

After checking for any obvious issues I started disconnecting components of the new stereo system hoping to isolate where the charge was coming from. I have removed every piece of the new system, unplugged the amp and rca's but continue to get the charge on the chassis. Currently there is zero plugged in at the head unit location.

These are the changes I made.
Removed the speedwire running from the oem head unit to the sound processor
Removed the speedwire running from the aftermarket amp to the oem head unit
    Removed the Rockford sound processor
    Removed the oem radio
Ran new speaker wire from the amp to each door speaker
Ran rca's from the amp to the new head unit
Installed new head unit including a Maestro controller for steering wheel control
Any help in guiding me how to troubleshoot/diagnose where this current is coming from will be appreciated.

    TIA

This kinda sounds more like Static Discharge. What has the weather been like lately?

Warm and dry - I believe that makes good static weather. Be careful fueling.

Well it appears you were correct. Static discharge has disappeared. I guess after installing I overlooked the obvious and assumed it was something with the new system. Thanks for your help.

Ur recent accessory may NOT be the only candidate.............cpould be another upgrade

there are several wiring ‘ troubles ‘

side cross...........when separate circuits 1 side is touching 1 side of another circuit

ground of 1 circuit side to ground....... ground side touching another ground ( chassis ) or another circuit

open circuit............one side is open usually positive side

more to low dc voltage than ‘ shorts '
