Remember - Nobody is forcing anybody to buy the product. People in pain are seeking relief and finding a solution. If you are not in pain, consider yourself lucky.

Last Thursday I woke up and resigned myself to selling my 1st gen to replace it with a 2nd gen knowing I could find better seating. I took one last look and found the product recently became available for 1st gens. If this doesn't solve the problem, I will most likely proceed with my plan to sell the 1st gen.

1st gen are definitely not good trucks for tall people. I'm 5'1'' so I fit in anything. Have you considered getting a Tundra?

I might.. Depends on if the seat jacker works for the 1st gen. I do like the 4.7L engine.

Can you tell me what contouring was done ? It feels like I need to add more material toward the back of my knee...My pain starts in the ankle area and works its way up my leg and eventually settles in the sciatica area of my low back...The whole thing is backwards for some reason..But its exactly as explained every time..Excruciating...Oh, I'm 5'10" and made my own seat risers from aluminum stock I had...

I’m tempted to try this. I’m only 5’9” but after driving CA to NY in 3 LONG days alone last summer, and back again in the early fall, I had several days of hip and leg pain. At the time I found sitting more on my left cheek than right, and not letting my right leg sag/rotate/splay to the right helped a little. Since then just around town I’ve experimented more and find some relief from moving the seat further back so my leg straightens and is supported from hip to knee. I’m driving east again in two weeks and not looking forward to another flare up.

I initially started with rolling up a bath towel and wrapping some tape around it to use as a cervical neck roll except under my knees. That brought some relief on a long trip. But it was difficult to keep in position if I moved around a little. So I gave up on that and bought the seat wedge. That was ok, it was just embarrassing to have in the truck for seating when I want a co-worker to go to lunch.

I guess if a seat could be built up to have a bolster in the front it would work. My problem is I don't know if a trim shop within a 3 hour one way drive that would have the skills to make something like this.

Lol, I'm 23 and about 5'11". My 1st gen kills my lower back after maybe 10 minutes.

I installed a set on my 100 series. I can position the seat to new positions that are way more comfortable than it was before the mod.

The Tacoma jackers should be arriving tomorrow.

what you're offering is a good start judging from the appearance. However for people with longer legs, the entire seat needs to be raised, at minimum an inch.

Create a set of risers which lifts the entire seat at least an inch, and possibly tilts the front up at the same time and I'll buy a set of those risers.

I had this problem in a datsun 510 wagon, I raised the seat 2 inches and the issue went away entirely, the car was incredibly comfortable to sit in. The same issue exists with the tacoma, the entire seat is too low.

Installed the Seat Jackers on some original bucket seats. It was an easy installation. Good instructions. No issues. My son and I agree it makes the seat more comfortable. So I'm keeping them.

I've been driving my regular cab 97 for 24+ years. started with a bench and then swapped them out for buckets in 98. I'm 6'2 and can guarantee that the truck has added to my back pain as I get older. I also have a 2nd gen and the seats are by far superior.
I have an extra set of 3rd gen 4runner limited power seats that I am going to install this summer. I think that for the 1st gen tacoma the 4runner seats are the cheapest and easiest fix to this issue.

The 4Runner power seats are definitely a nice upgrade. It would take many years for a set to become available in my location that haven't been shredded. I finally gave up on it.

I feel like my leg/knee pain would go away if I could lower the front of the seat (and I'm a tilt-the-seat-back like a race bucket guy, usually) - I feel like there's too much pressure under my thigh/knee area in the Taco.

    Bigger battery..Elec in the bed..Topper,
Eleventh, I agree with you..I think the original seat position in my 07 was too low overall and pitched up too much in the foward seating ( behind the knees ) . I raised my seat up about 1" all the way around..I still need to lower the front about 1/4 to 1/2 " ..Its all trial and error..I also would like to beef the seat up behind the knees for more support..One step at a time..Also looking at 3rd gen 4Runner leather seats ( if I can locate any ) ..Other threads have talked of adding seats from other vehicles altogether..

I noticed DesertDoesIt sells ADJUSTABLE REAR SEAT JACKERS (1995-2004 TACOMA) -- Might be helpful going the opposite direction and raising the rear instead of raising the front.

Thats a possibility too..I made my own risers from 1" square aluminum stock lying around, but I like the way some of the jackers on the market have theirs made to where you can include the original factory threads tapped into the floor..If I can't make a new set like those, I'll spring for the market prices..
