    I have a 2017 Tacoma Off Road/Double Cab/Long Bed........
I am getting a 3.5 inch lift, Black Rhino (Sand and Black) Arsenal wheels, and Nitto Ridge Grappler tires sized 285/70 r17.

Will I need to replace the factory jack in my truck with a different one? If so, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks

You don’t necessarily have to replace the jack, but you’ll definitely have to have a base under it or something above it for it to reach. I always use my factory one and just use whatever is laying around. Carry a couple blocks of wood around if you want.

The problem with the block of wood under the factory jack method is that it works well when your tire has air in it. When the tires flat there’s not enough room.

I haven’t fully extended the factory mechanical bottle jack to see the full height. Might try that today. My factory jack in the Land Cruiser worked fine with 37’s.

Yep, that's so true. When the tire is flat the rim is on the ground........how does the block fit under the bottle jack to help?

I just want to get what I need to be prepared if at all possible. I may have to change a flat on a nice hard surface.......then again.....I may have to change a flat in the mud, you never know. Just setting my truck and self up to be prepared if possible.

    Thanks for any advice....

Supplement the factory jack with a telescopic hydraulic jack behind your seat. More jacks is always better in tricky situations. The factory is a good back-up or second.

    Checked the measurements on the factory jack;

    collapsed: 7.5”
    extended: 18.625”

You won’t have any issues changing a flat on the rear, but the front may be problematic.

You can put a bottle jack under the lower control arm if it no longer reaches the frame to do the front tires.

I removed my tires a month or so ago to work inside the fenders. With the stock TRDOR suspension and 265/70/17 (31.6) tires my stock jack was totally maxed out. I just put on a 2" lift and 33s. No way it'll work now and I don't think blocks are particularly useful unless you're on ideal flat ground conditions. If I were you I'd get a hi-lift to cover all situations you might find yourself in.

I ran into this situation when installing my lift. I have ordered a farm Jack and bed rail mounts for my truck. I have designed a mounting point for the trailer hitch.

Changing a flat on a 1st gen in the middle of the desert, I needed 2 stock jacks. 1 to lift it out of the dirt on the frame and the second under the lower control arm.

Thanks for the information. I agree. While I will keep my stock jack in the truck, looks like I might have to look into getting a farm jack or something similar. I have no experience with one, yet.

Thanks for responding. What sort of designed mounting point do you have for your hitch? What is the best method for using a farm jack for a front tire? I suppose I would have to carry some jack stands if I go with a farm jack?

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
Put two 12" long 2x12's in the bed.

To place under the jack? Yea, prob will for now.
Going to explore what options are out there for better made jack stands as well. Thanks.
