An irrational fear of elevators makes me take the stairs all the time. If I need to get something large upstairs at work, I put it in the elevator and run upstairs to meet it.

Seeing Tower of Terror as a kid is what did it, I think.

Running is a very loose term. It's more like power hiking around the mountains in the Mad River Glen Valley. I fucking hate running. But i am a mental midget and enjoy stupidity and things with a high probability of injury. I also associate with very similar minded mental midgets. The outcome of which has been a growing level of one-upsmanship and stupidity over the years.

I feel like you're not embracing the irony of showing up to these types of events essentially ill prepared with a bunch of running hardos in their short shorts and skinny little skeletor bodies and equaling or exceeding their performance. Also, i'm pretty dumb and really dumb ideas seem like good ones to me. Kind of like dyslexia, but for stupidity.

No, no, no. Did you read what Seth said? It's like a brisk walk and you get to drink beer while you go. Seems ok to me :notsure:

Mike gets it. It's basically an excuse to stay up for 48 hours straight, hallucinate without (or with) chemicals, drink beer, hang out with buddies and generally be an idiot.

It's always something when you own your home. Washing machine this morning starting making a loud rumbly bearing noise during the spin cycle.

Ran into that last year. Figured, bearing replacement, how hard can it be? Ordered up some parts, watch YouTube to become a subject matter expert and go to town. Parts arrived, start the tear down and pretty quickly figured out that the parts I was sent weren't going to fit. Manufacturer was absolutely no help but verified the part numbers I had were supposed to fit (this is while I have both bearings and shaft assemblies in my hands and they clearly aren't even close to the same size). Ended up putting it back together, waiting for a decent sale and ordering a new machine. Old one was 10 years old so decent run I suppose...

Normally i diy everything cause i'm cheap and enjoy s&m. Our washer started doing the same thing maybe 1.5-2 years ago. It wasn't even that old, maybe 4 years old. But the cost of the new bearing and shocks and misc stuff was like 40% the cost of new. At that point we just waited until a sale and pony'd up for a new one.

Did you check if it was level? That could be the issue, though it's probably toast. But there's a slim chance it shimmied itself out of level until it reached Michael J. Fox levels of operation.

This one's like 12 or 13. I pulled the rear panel & wheel off this morning, and found a part # on the outer bearing (it's a front load), and I think I've found a bearing & seal kit for $70. I emailed the vendor the model of the washer and the part # on the bearing I can see, to make sure it's a match. I hate to buy a new one if I can just swap the bearings out, because everything on it works fine and it does a good job with our clothes.

Yeah, still level so that isn't the issue; it's definitely a bearing noise. I spun it slowly while I had the wheel & belt off this morning and you can hear the bearing catching from inside the drum. Probably the seal is toast and it let some water in. Or possibly it's because the GF thinks that 'if it fits, it ships' applies to laundry, and it's finally caught up with us.

With the dishwasher, as far as I ever got with mine was replacing the front seal. Ours has started getting noisy as hell and will likely need to be replaced soon.

mine was a fairly new samsung, and it threw a code. it was some sensor, i tried cleaning it and didn't work. so to replace it i had to pull the whole thing out and turn it on it's side so i could reach in from the bottom. and then i kinked the hose putting it back in. fun stuff
