What do I need in Jump Starter Battery?

Hey fellas,

what do I need to get a good battery jump starter?

Certain amounts of amps? output, etc....

blah blah

I don't need something that will jump a dead battery in 2 seconds, but something workable...

I just got this from restockit.com, works pretty good so far. It sure beats jumping with a car/cables.

Yes, 900 amps is quite powerful. I did have a little trouble when it was close to zero out and the jumper unit was not at full charge once. But usually with a totally dead battery it starts it on the 3rd try or so. A portable unit will never be as powerful as an actual car/cable jump start, but this unit works pretty good.
I also found that a lot of units have unnecessary add-ons (in my opinion) such as tire pumps. My thinking was to get the best jumpstarter for the price, let it do one thing and do it well, rather than gimmicky add ons that reduce the quality of the main purpose.

 

yeh, the "accesories" are a waste, but I am looking for one with a charger/jump and decent air compressor to refill my tires when I do riding on the sand

 

I've got this one that I picked up at Costco if I remember correctly. Never had to jump-start myself though. Only other people. The air compressor is pretty handy until I can get around to installing a dedicated compressor at some point.

 

Anyone understand Peak amps versus cranking amps? Also, how much is needed for a v6 tacoma?

 

650 seems to ring a bell. I could be entirely wrong though.
