    My reasons:
1.) I feel less bad about not loaning it to others.
2.) I like being able to predict the road ahead of me and plan my gears for that hill just in front of me
3.) I drive safer and slower, less punching it and trying to hit that window in traffic and instead wait a bit - little more zen lifestyle.
4.) That feeling of in-between still rolling slightly backward after reverse and 1st gear
5.) The confusion that A/T people must feel when at a stoplight your brake lights aren't engaged but standing still.
6.) When you have to drive an A/T and you panic as you approach a stop and punch an imaginary clutch with your left foot and shift a water bottle with your right hand - then laugh at yourself.
7.) Knowing a milennial will never steal your truck even if they wanted to (I'm 33, but still)
8.) Revving next to a Tesla at a stop and watching the confusion, then pulling out slowly when the light turns

My main concern about a M/T? I hike/fish all the time. Mostly by myself (hard to find others that do the same anymore, and moved into a new area). Just waiting for that bad fall where I brake a leg/arm and the ride back being a whole process of shifting. But, oh well! Live and die doing what you love, shifting your way to happiness.

I jammed an ankle in a fall climbing and driving an auto is still a pain if you damage the wrong leg.

Been driving MT since I was 16, so 11 years, bought first auto (2005 Honda Accord for $900) a year ago as my DD. It reiterated my love for MT, autos are mediocre at shifting.

You really only need the clutch for starts and stops. If you rev match properly you can slip in and out of each gear smoothly.

Some say it's just a truck but to others it's a lot of 60 hour weeks and overtime in the weather. To many it's not just a truck it's an accomplishment and I totally support them being selfish with their hard work

This. My Taco is my first brand-new car or truck. It represents a lot of hard work, dangerous work and long hours. I feel the same way about my house.

You're lucky you got to chose your transmission from a company that doesn't let you order a vehicle to your specifications. The rest of us are stuck with what we can get.

I prefer to drive a manual. I’m sure it would get annoying to drive one in traffic but that’s not a real concern where I live. Not having hill start assist on an off-road branded truck is a little strange though.

With all due respect, those of us who chose a manual were willing to jump through hoops to get it. You don’t have to “take what you can get” from the dealership. Persistence will reward you with the truck you want, the way that you want it.

Valid concern. I broke my right clavicle on a solo ski trip last winter and had to drive home in a snow storm with just a left arm. It really wasn't that bad, but a broken leg would have been a real challenge!
