Hi all, new to the forum - please excuse if this isn't the right section or if this has been addressed already (I have been digging but haven't seen it as of yet).

Recently I purchased my first Tacoma and am absolutely in love with it, I have upgraded everything that I had set out to do but ran into a problem with the aftermarket headlights I have purchased. Sadly, due to my ignorance I have purchased headlights that were not designed for TRD models with factory LED DRLs - yes, completely my fault. See picture below:

My question: Is there any way to still retrofit and utilize the factory DRL plug coming from the truck to still power on the DRL that came on the aftermarket headlight? Seems the turn signal and DRL are both powered through the same LED plug (top right 3 pin plug). I have already purchased the Alpharex 3 pin converter to power on the turn signals but have no where to plug in my factory harness for the DRLs. My assumption is if I could somehow purchase or build a converter that utilizes the same routing at the SR5 I could possibly make it work (combining the signals for the turn signals and DRL). I am not the most savvy when it comes to electrical work, but it seems like it could work.

Has anyone else come across this problem or am I the only idiot that got purchase happy and didn't read fully?

    All help is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum! Are you aware those headlights are going to be a significant downgrade from your OEM units? They are definitely not recommended in terms of output or longevity. If you prioritize cosmetic preference over functional performance that might be acceptable to you. Personally I'd use this as a great excuse to return a product that significantly reduces visibility performance. If looking to increase your OEM headlight performance there is lots of info here, in posts #1, 2 & 3.

If interested in still pursuing those aftermarket headlights, hopefully someone else will chip in with the information you are looking for.
