i have been wanting to remove the IAC, test it, give it a cleaning. I got a JIS screwdriver, no luck. Pb, no luck. Gave them a tap/whack, no luck. Heat, which seemed a little risky given that it heated up the throttle body & thee are electrical connections, no luck. Any suggestions?

Vice grips worked for me, but they sure are stubborn.

I took a rotary tool with a cutting wheel and made a straight groove across the head. I then took a flat head screwdriver and spun them off with that.

If you want to replace the screws afterwards, you can get hex screws but I don't recall the size. If you search the forum, you'll find it.

Alternatively you can use the JIS screwdriver and take a crescent wrench to the handle to give you more torque. You'll want to put a good amount of downward pressure on the handle so the tip doesn't slip out and wreck the head.

Kicking myself for not getting the screwdriver set that had the t-handle. Thank you. Maybe the grips, then the cut if needed.

Time to drill them out .

Might want to have new screws so you can drive your truck .

Do you have Access to a Drill Press??

    Makes it much easier.

They can be stubborn. I usually make stern, serious, lengthy eye contact with them while I lightly clamp the t-body in a vice (hint). By this time they "usually" understand who is the boss.

Easy thing to do is replace them with normal screws same size with a lock washer on them.

I got them with vice grips, but it looks like I need some more handy tools :spending:

Sure glad I got the IAC freed up because it was a mess!
