So I got this squeak coming from my steering wheel when I turn it. Its not loud and can only hear it if your listening for it, but its definitely coming from inside the cab. Anyone else have this going on, and do you guys think it could be the tie rod? I'm at 40k miles too btw.

Is that the u-joint? Should I spray some lubes on it?

If it doesn't affect the squeak, maybe it's the clock spring.

I'm not going with the usual suspects since you say it seems to be coming from the steering wheel.

I had a similar squeak that i traced to my steering post...only happened when the cab was below freezing temps. I shot some silicon spray up in the articulating parts till the squeak vanished.

If the spraying of the ujoint makes the noise go away you may want to physically remove the intermediate shaft assembly and thoroughly apply grease to it then move the joint around it to get the grease into the books and crannies. (There is a 50/50 chance this works)

I believe these joints are sealed and are not greasable if they are the same as Gen2's BUT if that is the case you may not have much luck keeping the grease from getting in as desired. In that case you would be best off replacing the intermediate shaft as a whole and cutting your losses. They are not too expensive, however, so all's well that ends well regardless.
