Ello! I'm so stoked on my new 2018 Tacoma SR5 4x4 V6. It was a killer deal and I feel super lucky to have found it. I really like it the way it is, but will probably slowly build onto it over time...

I was wondering about some suspension / tire advice to soften the drive a bit. It's not critical, but I did drive a lifted 2021 SR5 with TRD wheels and loved the bounce and softness of the drive, but it was 12k over my budget. I knew the one I found had everything I needed and that overtime I could work on the feel of the suspension and / or tires.

I am not entirely sure what I would do to make the ride feel smoother and more bouncy though -- a lift, different shocks, tires? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks all!

    Happy taco ownerTacoma2018.jpg ,

    Welcome!

Kinda looks like the truck already has a lift of some sort (probably a spacer lift). I would recommend a bilstein or fox if you want to maintain the factory height or increase an inch or two while improving the ride quality.

I had the fox 2.0 performance coilover Shocks installed on my truck and it improved the ride quality and its a lot smoother now compared to the sport tuned hitachis from factory. The fox Coilovers also increased the height by 1.5 inches. I payed ~$1650 USD for parts and labor

Awesome! So appreciate your input Brandon.

I'm looking into Bilsteins, I watched a couple videos on the Bilstein 5100's that seems like an option. I keep hearing about "add a leaf" or something of that nature - still trying to wrap my head around all the new terms...

I saw this mentioned in a video as a kit to soften the ride and add a small lift:

    https://yotamafia.com/product/2005-2015-tacoma-ultimate-economical-3-lift-kit

Haven't looked into fox yet but I'll look into that as well

I think the tires look good, but I wonder if I might need to get bigger tires with the lift... I love the rims though and hope to keep those if I have to change the tires.

By the way, is there a particular kind of place recommended to getting these things installed? Want to make sure everything gets done properly of course :)

    Welcome to TW.

Check "rated tire pressure" on that sticker on the driver's door jam.

My tires were inflated to 65 psi! Uh, should be 30 psi per my door jam. Made a bit of difference.
