I guess I don't understand the appeal. When you buy a new truck, why do you want some random person at the dealer taking a photo of you? Do you get a deal for helping them advertise?

I just always thought it was the most awkward thing and more for the dealer, but people seem to like it?

I honestly think the people that are in those pics are the ones that got ripped off.

They wouldn't want a pic with you if you got the better end of the stick.

Well now I'm pissed. I've bought at least 15 new cars and not one damn picture. Am I too ugly?

It was my first time buying a new vehicle and I was stoked about it, also they took the picture on my phone, not theirs so it wasn't advertising for the dealership.

Some of yall should try fun, it's pretty neat sometimes!

I did it when I got my new 19 taco, but it was primarily because it was the kids first sale.

Biggest reason is the dealer hopes you share that photo on social media and/or friends. The picture will show a shiny vehicle with the dealerships branding and its free marketing/advertising for them. For some, its also a big day when they can buy the vehicle of their dreams, first vehicle, or even a vehicle at all.
When I got my truck, my wife was there and the dealer offered to take a photo, I was down because it was going to be my "before" pic as I planned to mod it. When we stood in front of the truck, he had us move a foot to the left and it wasn't till I looked at the photo later, that the dealership sign would have been blocked had we not moved.

Yup, a dealer by my house does it with all their lifted GMCs they sell. I would be smiling too if I could afford what I assume is an 80k truck
    Edit: those prices are insane

I take it you got one with the truck you just picked up a few weeks ago

To be fair, I'm generally not into having a photo taken and I get a little embarrassed about situations like that, so I tend to avoid them.

@anthonynoriega good on you, that is 100% best reason I've seen on here.

Yeah - I'm in the same boat (at least)...I'm thinking now I may take a few photos and send them to dealerships I shopped with over the past 40 years....

I certainly did not! I had the truck 2 days before I finally took a picture of it at all in fact!

It’s the same thing with tool trucks selling some fresh out of school lube rack tech a 10k tool box. Take a picture with the kid on delivery day.

    sad really.

I’ll admit, I did it. In fact I was happy to do it. I’d worked hard to buy my Taco and had done a lot of shopping around. I was (and still am) happy with the deal I got so why not? Although I didn’t put it on IG.
