Sold the 1st gen and picked up a 2014 DC SR5. Seller said they were having issues with the radio, but i thought I could diagnose and fix it myself (I was wrong). Here is what I have learned so far, any other guidance in fixing the issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Entune head unit non-JBL
--Everything appears to be working (radio, Bluetooth, and CD all say they are playing on screen, but no sound is coming from the speakers).
--Every few days or so I will hear music coming out of the speakers, but it is staticy and eventually stops.
--Head unit was replaced by previous owner while still under warranty so I don't think that is the issue.
    Checked Fuses
--Checked both radio fuses in engine bay.
--No external amp powering speakers, so no fuse to check there.
    Checked Speaker Wire Continuity
--Used a multimeter and checked from head unit harness to each individual speaker harness. Got tone on all wires for all speakers.
    Checked Speakers
--Unplugged speakers one at a time to see if they might be grounding out on the cab (Tweeters have already been removed so no issues with the front door running in series).
--Checked resistance on speakers. 4ohms all around.
--Ended up swapping for new speakers while I had the door panels off. (Did not fix the no sound issue).
    Checked Ground Wire
--Connected one end of multimeter to negative terminal on battery and other end to ground wire on stereo harness (brown). Got a reading of 3.7ohms (Is that a normal reading? Seems like it should be lower)

    Questions:
--Any other ideas of what can be checked?
--Should I rewire the ground to get a lower resistance?
--Does anybody know where the factory ground from the head unit connects?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Apologies if this is in the wrong section. Long time tacomaworld follower. First time poster.

That brown wire ( ground ) should read very near zero when checked. Check the ground wire from the stereo harness to a good metal surface like the brace bar under the dash. I would say it should read well under an Ohm of resistance depending on the calibration of the meter you are using.

Get a spare speaker and temporarily put it across the speaker outputs directly from the radio. Put it as close to the radio output as you can. Do this with all of the outputs. If no sound then I would suspect blown amps in the radio itself. Still could be a ground though.

Thanks all. I ordered a new head unit and going to see if that resolves the issue.

Did you ever figure this out? I’m having a similar issue. No sound output. And where did you find the brown ground wire? I need to check this.

When you say the tweeters have been removed.....are they unplugged at that grey connector that's right next to where the tweeters normally are?
