40k tires with same quality as 60k tires?

    2003 Base Cab. 2 whl drive. 5 speed
    Seems that tires with better stopping properties and other quality aspects are 60k and above. May not make economic sense to the maker, but can you buy 40k tires with those same stopping power properties and maybe save a few bucks? Just saying that as the stopping ability is better, so is the rated mileage higher along with the price. Is that the nature of the beast, so to speak? Thanks for moving this to the proper forum area.
