Starter motor sounds like a 2.7l starter

Hi guys! Just have a quick question for you all. I bought a trd off road 2010 with the 1grfe and when I start it, it sounds like the starter motor off of a 2.7l. It starts fine and it doesnt make any odd noises just wondering if this is something to beconcerned about. Thanks! I'm loving the truck. I wanna put a winch and a lift on it eventually.

 

Both of my dogs sound the same when they fart.

 

There is a much more satisfying starter sound on the 1gr in my experience... pop the hood??

 

Well, the 2.7 is a better engine, so as far as that goes, its not a bad thing. What is, however, is the principle of getting duped into something different than you were lead to believe. Take pictures of the engine and post them here.

 

I have..it sounds good. And the truc only has 130k on it. Idk if it's an issue. I like the more satisfying start up.

 

Okay I will. It's the 6 speed manual and the motor definitely does not sound like a 2.7l. The starter motor just does

 

Oh, then don't worry about it. If the starter motors are even interchangeable, then they're identical.

 

Okay. So you think someone probably just changed it out because it went bad? I appreciate your help!

 

No. I mean you're imagining things. And I don't mean that in a bad way.

 

I'd recommend opening the hood and looking around.

If it actually is a v6, and it starts and runs fine, your ears need to listen for more important stuff.

There are two different starters. There is a 1.6kw and 2.0kw starter. I have a 05 Tundra with the 4.0 and 6-speed manual. It has a weaker sounding starter compared to the 2.0kw which has the punchier sound.
