Yes I have written procedures like that. I'm a nuclear systems mechanical engineer. Been doing it for a long time, some of the most complex jobs you'll see. And no, I won't give you a break. I didn't wait all this time to stand up and complain about something from 6 years ago. Like I said, when speaking with the service Master tech there just days ago, he was telling me they don't have precautionary steps like that to inspect easily damaged parts prior to reinstall that aren't directly related to the frame (i.e. transmission fluid hoses). So yes, that doesn't make sense because it can easily happen right? Odds are in my favor. More likely than not, the RCA would point to the frame replacement. Therefore you get no break. You remove the hose and damage it but don't even check to see if it's kosher before reinstall? What? I was told hey man, were gonna fix you up and be as good as new no problemo. Idk about you but I take a man's word for a man's word and have faith that if something were to happen they would at least admit the possibility of such event occurring. Which they refused, bc $$$.

I guess if I was like jeffch I would have been good but I didn't know to provide my own parts bc I figured it would all go back in the condition it was in before. I know it's not just the frame, it was brake lines, leaf springs, frame, and a few others I believe. I understand the complexity, but the whole point, is that stuff like that should get checked as per the procedure. It is not, which is a shame bc that means many many other people have most likely encountered similar issues.

Well, all I can say is good luck. Even with the best processes and procedures, one can "inspect" a part before re-installing it and determine its fine - only to have it fail a short time later. One can even install a brand new part and have it fail in short order due to an unseen manufacturing defect.

As for your comment that they said. "we're gonna fix you up and be as good as new no problemo." I would suggest that "good as new" is a relative term. The only way it would be truly good as new is if Toyota built you a completely new truck on the original assembly line. What you get with the current frame swap process is a significantly refurbished vehicle that has a lot more new parts than just a frame. As I recall, Toyota was ordered just to replace your rusted out frame. Again, where does one draw the line?

Getting back to our experience with frame swaps and telling people they need extra parts, it's not all good. Most of them just want the free frame and don't want to sink much into stuff that's going to cost them money out of their pocket. Trust me, some of the trucks that roll in the door for frame swaps are held together mostly by force of habit.

hah, your a nuke that explains it. Well log your critical component failure and adjust your PM schedule, clock reset to you buddy. Most manuals have you do a daily walk through of your vehicle to check things like coolant level, belt condition, hose conditions. Seems like negligence on your part to follow the manual.
