I’m surprised to see that there aren’t any lighting/electrical diagrams or plans for the cleanest/safest/most effective way to wire up lights based on generations. Atleast not that I’ve seen stickied...Granted I only truly care about 2nd gen, but ya know “greater good” somethin somethin... Sure I can Google it, but it’s half baked, never specific to my make or even model, and usually drawn in Microsoft paint.

Surely the collective knowledge of this group could yield impressive results.
Am I missing something? Have we truly been left to our own devices on this? Where’s the lighting/electrical experts...I got the Visio.

I would be curious to see, for example, how people are wiring a 50” roof bar, 2 ditch lights and a bumper bar. Or any other combination really. I’m curious to know where the best place is to run wires, who drilled holes where and regretted it, and who drilled holes where and never though they would appreciate it as much. Where are people running lines? Putting relays? How are they attaching them? What fuses have worked best? Etc etc

I refuse to believe everyone is just randomly, on their own, doing these things in the same manner. I feel like this community could put together a centralized amount of info on minimums, desired, lessons learned, and baseline diagrams on this info to make it even easier for people and avoid mistakes.

feel like I’m rambling through my vision, does that make any sense?

The closest thing I've seen on here is this thread, I'm pretty good at reading and interpreting wiring diagrams but as far as where to mount and drill that's outside my scope.
I don't like doing irreversible modifications like drilling and cutting to my stuff so can't help you there.

As far as running the wires I could see how that would benefit the community. But for hooking multiple components it’ll be dependent on people's needs.

You’re likely not finding what you want because companies often times provide wiring harnesses or people that are purchasing quality components know how to do the wiring already.

But for information sake... A lot of people choose to go the blue sea fuse block route or the Bussman relay and fuse box for multiple components in a clean setup.

Even in those situations I have a host of curiosities. A lot of the same ones originally, and new ones on things that may differ between people in using stuff like bussman or blue sea. We have wiring diagrams and stuff for our trucks stock, but it seems like we “ditched the map” back at that left turn around “aftermarket”, and I just don’t understand why. Most people aren’t doing crazy custom stuff, they’re doing pretty common things like ditch lights, and want the easiest/best way based on lessons learned. I would look at a roof bar, ditch, and bumper as a fairly common setup, but what happens when you do them all at different times or from different companies? Idk, just so much knowledge I feel like we have to re-piece together every time instead of having some basic baselines and deviating as needed from there

Probably because it’s pretty straightforward for a basic circuit. Fuse, relay, switch, lamps..

People make it hard on themselves adding complexity and introducing problems.

I’m still posting the hella diagrams from the 90s when people get stuck..
