THE GREAT DEPRESSION

So today I made a decision to trade my 2005 GTO for a Tacoma.
On my drive home I couldn't help but almost cry because of how attached to my goat I had gotten.

Granted I got a few thousand dollars and a SuperCharged Taco in the deal; it was still hard not feel like a complete idiot. Those of you who have had your tacomas a while are the people I really need to hear from right now because I wanna punch myself in the face and pat myself on the back at the same time and I would appreciate some reassurance.

i used to have an 07 Trailblazer SS and an 09 Yukon, felt bad also knowing i went from custom built street trucks to a better gas mileage foreign truck. both my domestics were gas guzzlers pushing 400+ hp each....

but i think it was meant for me to have a Toyota because my first truck was an 86 4runner and that thing lasted me forever. but now that im a dad, ive gone thru my domestic street truck phase and now i need a long term family vehicle that will save me gas and headaches

 

Man in a few months you'll be wondering how you ever lived without the Tacoma. My old '99 Tacoma was my first vehicle (I got it the day I got my license). Drove that thing until the frame rust recall took it away from me in July. Now I have a '10. In the meantime of it all, I bought an '04 Grand Am when they came out with the scooped hood and all the goodies. When I moved a lot closer to work and didn't need the second car for commuting, I sold the car and kept the Tacoma (many people including my wife couldn't understand why I would keep the truck which was 5 years older). When the factory bought my '99, everyone told me to shop around and look at all the trucks on the market. I basically went through the motions and after two dealers, my wife made the comment that we should just go to the Toyota dealer and get another Tacoma cause that's what I really wanted. She was right. That night we went and bought my '10. Once you see the reliability and the versatility, you'll never want anything else.

 

I am a father as well.....so the days of chasing ass and drag racing every turbo-boosted pop-can I see are OVER!

 

OP, the '05 GTOs are bada$$ cars, no doubt...but, I always thought they had anonymous styling (I could never tell them apart from other Pontiacs).

Anyway, I think you'll be surprised about how much more use you'll get out of your new truck...hauling, wheeling, camping, etc.

welcome. having and using a truck is a great experience. i'm sure you'll miss the speed of the car, but that supercharger adds a bit more pep to the truck. these are solid trucks, they stand the test of time, hard work, off road ability, abuse, and pretty much everything you can think of. enjoy it, you got the best mid-sized truck out there.

note: i noticed that you're in denver. if you haven't already, you might want to check out the underside of the truck for any rust issues.

 

05 GTO for a 00 Tacoma?? don't get me wrong, i love my truck, but i wouldnt have done it
