An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
I think you would be fine with either King of Fox. I'm sure you can make a case for either. The main reason I went with king is I know two guys that have had problems with fox in less then 25,000 miles. One is mostly on pavement with the occasional weekend worrier thing. The other is like me and works in the mountains. I also know three guys with fox that have been perfectly happy. For me two out of five isn't that good. I'm the only one I personally know running King's so we will see how they hold up.

I ended up with the Fox 2.5” DSC version going on my longbed.
I too struggled for a few months trying to talk myself down $$$ wise. But in the end I like to play offroad. And I want the best ride and performance I can get while doing so, with the ability to switch it around when doing the highway thing for a few hundred miles....
I’m also making an appointment to have them custom tuned and valved with performance pistons in the rears by accutune , see @*TRD* as he was most helpful.
The tuning is “very” reasonable and I just think if your going this far , why not!
Although my wife just smiles and rolls her eyes :).
I’ll post again when there done and on.

Yep, if your putting down a few thousand then it only makes since to have them tuned for your particular setup. Luckily my wife works in the same conditions and understands the "loving abuse" that I put the truck through.

My two Fox coilovers decided to fail and leak within two weeks of each other. They have ~26,000 miles on them and maybe a half dozen light to moderate off road adventures .

They're also a nice shades of oxidation brown even though they have seen zero salt water .

If you look around long enough you'll realize that specialty shock retailers always push a certain brand. Filthy, Downsouth, Accutune, and others all have a certain shock brand they push more than the others. I doubt that has anything to do with which is best, since different brands are pushed by different retailers. Guess who Accutune pushes.

They are all going to be great shocks ! If you go with King, Fox or Icon your going to be happy ! Your going to always find someone out of the tens of thousands sold in each brand that “ knows “ someone who has the opposite brand of what they like that had problems.
Accutune by the way likes great shocks :). They sold me and custom tuned my Kings which they said were awesome shocks !
And while I bought my fox2.5” dsc elsewhere they are going to tune these also after KOH . They also really like these!
If your going to invest in great shocks and pay big money, I think the natural inclination is to be brand protective.
I like them all. But fortunately or not, two Tacoma’s are my limit...I would love to try out those icons tho

Keep the speed up to stay on top of washboards!! Up hill is always worse. Watch out for the bigger pot holes that will kick your back end out. Hold on. I guess it depeneds on how bad the washboard road we are talking is, but I drive my 06 regular cab tacoma down about 15 miles of wash board after work to get home fairly often in the summer and usually go around 45-50. 160,000 miles with stock struts and worn out leafs. The worst part is the dust if anyone passed you going the other way.
