That will stay but it will be too sticky, bad choice unless you want a dirt/dust magnet, the grease spray won't attract dirt/dust like chain lube. He'd be better off dripping hot wax on said part that wouldn't attract as much, in fact toyota of Long Beach does this to all prerunner door hinges in Ca and they make a mess of the jamb. Plus the lubricant properties of chain wax are higher viscosity which will make the handle move slower than grease will.

Another vote for OEM, mine had a cracked brace for years and finally failed about 3 yrs ago. I bought an el cheapo replacement, it lasted exactly 2months and snapped one day when it was around -10F -truck and cab was warm and I didn’t yank on it or anything. Got to use the passenger door till early spring when it was warm enough to replace it with an OEM item.....
But maybe down in the tropics it’s another story....

No, the tropics cover the latitudes north and south of the equator from the Tropic of Cancer to the Tropic of Capricorn. The most northern and southern latitudes where the sun reaches directly overhead zenith. The subtropics are just outside those areas and never see the sun directly overhead. It happens at the equator twice a year. None of the US is tropical(except Hawaii) but the all of the states up to latitude 35N have all or at least some portion in the sub tropical zone.

If your handle broke there is a good chance other parts of the mechanism are getting stiff. Fix that and get everything smooth otherwise you'll keep replacing handles.

I replaced mine and lubricated everything and it takes maybe 1/4 of the force to pull the door handle.

Broken parts are often a symptom and not always the cause.
