Hubcap mount ??

Rotated my tires back to front - front to back - rear right hubcap fell off somewhere so I guess I didn't save any $$. Is there anything special about putting hubcaps on ?? I just lined up the clips with holes and hit it with a dead blow hammer. Any reply appreciated.

 

I've only had 1 vehicle that came with hubcaps. Sometimes it doesn't take much for them to fall off. Sucks that you lost one, but i don't believe they're expensive to replace. If it were me, I'd just try to make the steelies look nice. Hubcaps on a truck looks funny to me

 

Hubcaps never stay on long,better to get rid of them,than keep wasting money replacing them.

Center Caps

 

The center caps on the steelies are supposed to be put on before the lug nuts, holding them in place.

I took mine off a while ago, think they look better without. You can get replacements from eBay, carparts.com, dealership..

 

Funny story ...

I used to drive a car with hubcaps. One time this big pothole opened up in my neighborhood. People were losing hubcaps all the time. They bounced into the same neighbors yard. He would just line them up so everyone could see them.

One day one of my hubcaps went missing ... few days later it was on display in the neighbors yard. He was happy to give it back to me.

 

That hubcap is a royal pain to remove, don’t see how you’d ever lose it. They’re like $10 at the dealer if it does come off. Don’t leave it missing or you risk water intrusion into the wheel bearing.
